I sit here listening to Macey and Cade playing with a beach ball that they got at the beach last week....throwing it to each other, knocking things over, and laughing themselves silly....James is reading on the computer, and I am on my laptop....that is 4.....Ian is on a mission trip with our church youth group....in Savannah...and for this week of our lives, our family just doesn't seem complete.....It's funny how something as simple as one child being gone changes the dynamic of your family so much....We miss him, but are also very proud of him....for going to share God's love with those who are less fortunate....

As our summer comes to a close, I have been thinking about where each our children are in their lives....and it makes me sad to think about how fast they are growing up...Where does the time go?

Ian will be 13 in August...8th grade....He got braces this summer, and it makes him look so much older...He is as tall as me, and he already wears a bigger shoe than I do...I know, that's not saying a whole lot, but it's the point ;) I remember him sucking his thumb, and holding on to James' ear...He loves soccer, football, wrestling...anything that is competitive....School work on the other hand...we won't even discuss...He has a big heart-He loves others-and I am so proud of who he has become....God is going to use him. I just know it.

Macey will be 11 in September...6th grade....Middle School? Seriously? That can't be...She is so excited...Full of energy, self confidence, and leadership....She knows what she wants, and when she wants it...She loves acting, and modeling....and she Dreams BIG! Her red curly hair is always tangled, and freckles are covering her face this summer....Her room is a disaster, most of the time, I can't even see the floor....but she loves her family-and prays for them daily....

Cade just turned 7...2nd grade.....He is a mess...Always into something...Has boo boos all over his body...bike wrecks, falls, you name it....He climbs furniture, jumps onto everything...never sits still....I seriously don't know where he gets his energy.....Had to meet with his teacher the first week of kindergarten because of "agressive" behavior....But he does care for others, he worries about his "Sissy" and he just told me the other day that he "was so glad he wasn't an only child"....Hee hee....He is growing up too fast...He asked Jesus into his heart this past year...and he Loves his family...

Summer is my favorite time of year...no schedules, playing, fun, beach, ocean and sand...Together time...and no one else can compete with that...no ball practices, homework, or projects due....I have 9 days left...and I am going to enjoy every minute....God is good...all the time =)

Well, school is officially out, and I have three happy children....

We have had a lot of things going on in our lives this year...seems like more of them negative than positive...tree fell on our house in January(and most of you know-we are still recooperating from that one), James had to have gall bladder surgery, Ian fractured his ankle, Ian is facing oral surgery next week, James' mom's health is not good, or his dad either for that matter....many of our family members have gotten divorces....seems like lots of negative....in a world full of negative....My kids have had a hard time dealing with all of this...sometimes they seem to "have lost hope", they have questioned "Why does God let all this 'stuff' happen?", "Why can't he let our Mamaw get better?", "Why did he let a tree fall on our house?"..."What if it happens again?"...LOTS of questions....and I can honestly say, sometimes I feel that way too...BUT, I know that we can grow from it...I know that God can see the bigger picture, and HE knows what is best for us, and He is in control....I can say that, and I definitely mean it...but yes, sometimes it is still difficult....for some strange reason...just knowing that school is out, and summer is here...that makes it all somewhat better...Ocean and sand, would help even more-hee hee....and that is definitely in the near future ;)

I decided to write this post because of our recent desicion to NOT go back to NYC this summer....I have been praying for a few months now, about Macey and our trip back to the city...and have simply not felt a peace about it...Last year, I KNEW that God wanted us there, and there wasn't one doubt...This year, that peace simply wasn't there...We "wanted" to go back, but I also want what God wants...and sometimes his timing is not our own....So, even though I had these doubts, we continued on planning for the trip....To make a very long story short...apartment fell through...randomly...and a few other things, that just made James and I both say-"Let's talk to Macey about this...."...so we did...I would never want her to think I was giving up on her dream...and believe me, we are not...we are simply waiting....=) Like one of Macey's AMTC family members said the the other day, "NYC will be there-when God wants her to go back....but for now, you need to be where he wants her to be...." Macey smiled and said to me, "So, now I can go to Children's Camp at church?" She understands the importance of listening to God...I am so proud of the young lady she has become...and I KNOW that God is going to use her-whether in the entertainment industry or not....(even though I think it will be ;) because she is SO awesome!)

Do we feel like we are missing out? In a way, but being in His will-matters so much more....

Summer is going to be full this year...not of busy streets, auditions, modeling jobs, subways, traffic and enjoying the hustle and bustle of city life.....but full of family, sunshine, swimming, playing, parks, summer camp, beach time, and prayer....because, God has a bigger plan for us....we are just going to listen, wait, and see what that plan is....

My Plan or His?

I know, I am a blog slacker....Who knows if anyone out there in blog world even reads this blog any longer? I am not sure, and as of right now, don't care =) Writing is therapeutic sometimes, and I just felt the need to get this down...for me, if nothing else.....

Sometimes I feel as if God's "Plan" for my life....has never been put into action....My plan is the one I chose to live.....instead of His......I know that sounds crazy to some...I have a beautiful family, a home, job, wonderful church family....shouldn't have anything to complain about...and really, as far as those things go, I don't...but something is missing...Now, if I knew WHAT that something is, I wouldn't be posting this....I have felt this way for some time now....and until lately, completely ignored the thoughts....You know how it is when you think that God is speaking to you, but what he is saying seems somewhat "crazy"? or a little "out there"? I mean why would God want me to do anything other than raise my family, go to work, go to church....and just "be"....I have this gut feeling, He wants more...

I read blogs...I may not post on mine as much as I read others, but there are some amazing blog writers out there....and yesterday, one inparticular touched on this subject. Facing fears, listening to God, not only listening-but doing....That could be scary. really. Stepping outside the "comfort zone" of our lives, trusting God, and giving ourselves to Him....I have dealt with this for years...thinking it was my job, that I needed to "step outside of", maybe a friendship that wasn't working-that I needed to "step away from"-so many times, I thought I was doing what He was asking-"stepping outside my comfort zone"....I stepped a different way, but never to the point of being uncomfortable....where I needed to TOTALLY depend on Him....I have never considered the thought of a bigger step....a MUCH bigger step....

While I was in NYC last summer...I was uncomfortable....That pretty much is the most uncomfortable I have ever been....James got us settled in, then he came home to work for a few weeks before coming back....so there I was, with my 9 year old daughter, in an apartment as big as my laundry room, where I knew no one...and was supposed to "live"....Believe me, in the beginning, I thought to myself, " I am just going to stay in the apartment, until James come back"....but quickly realized that wasn't possible...We were there for Macey, because we truly felt God led us on this journey...So, how could I, in fear, not follow Him....Well, at that moment, when she and I were in tears, missing James, and the boys~it hit me...This is it...I am NOW outside my comfort zone....So now what? What he wanted for all these years....We gave it ALL to him....We got on our knees and began praying...me and Macey...we prayed for James' safety back home, we prayed for the boys, we prayed for our "journey" as we took on NYC alone....We began to pray, as if God was right there with us...We would recieve calls for auditions, in parts of town that I wasn't familiar with...We prayed that we would get on the right subway, take the right paths-to make the auditions on time....We prayed for everything...We prayed that God would show us to a church, where we could learn more about him, worship him, and grow closer to him during this time of change in our lives....I can honestly say....NYC was a blessing...Macey did amazing modeling, ect....but the true reason, I was outside my comfort zone, and had NO ONE but HIM to depend on...turn to...and He was there...We are planning on heading to the Big Apple again soon....entering another step in this crazy journey of ours....but I still don't think that is it...not the Big "Plan" he has in store for us...

God is moving. I am listening...and this time hoping to....go.

22 Days.....

I heard on the radio this morning that there is only 22 days until Spring...That makes me smile...I know, I know....just because the calendar says that it is Spring....doesn't mean that we will all of a sudden have "warm weather"....but just knowing that we can "officially" say it is Spring....means it won't be far away....and that makes Cassie one happy girl....

I don't blog much anymore, and having been making a small effort lately...but still not doing very well....I love to journal...and write things down...and have actually been doing more "writing" with a pen~than blogging....and thats ok...all journal entries aren't meant for blogs anyway...some need to be written on paper...with a really good pen...hee hee....A good pen is another thing that makes me smile...I will admit it...I am a dork....

Anyway...As we are coming up on Spring time...I was wanting to put a list on my blog of "Things that make me happy...."~even if they seem trivial~I just really need to write them down.... Seems like I have spent a lot of time complaining lately...Ask James...=) (not that we haven't had reason to...with a tree in my roof and all....I'm just sayin') This list is for me...so, don't be thinking that I should be happy for things I've not listed...I am obviously blessed with my precious family, my husband and best friend, my church, and my salvation...These things ALWAYS make me happy...even in the middle of January when it is pouring the snow, and there is a tree in my roof...This list is the "non-obvious" things...that when they happen, I "smile" on the inside....

So, for what it's worth....here it is....

"My list of things~no matter how small~that make me happy"

1. When I am in the pick up line at school....and I see Macey and Cade walking to the car...holding hands and smiling...They love each other so much...
2. When Ian comes up to me, and hugs me, no matter who is standing around...He isn't embarrased....
3. When James calls and asks me if I want to meet him for lunch
4. No laundry to do
5. having 20 minutes in the afternoon while waiting on the kids in the car~ to read
6. the tanning bed....I know, I know...but it does
7. the beach in general....I have actually gotten to the beach before, and my eyes filled up with tears....it is a place of complete peacefulness to me...I just can't even explain it....but James understands, and even that makes me happy...=)
8. To be married to my best friend....I always hear people complaining over their husbands, and I guess I do my share fair...but he is the Best...and I know I don't tell him that enough....
9. When Cade wants to hold my hand...and feeling that small little hand, that is already so much bigger than it used to be...in mine....
10. When Macey asks my opinion on something that is important to her....She is very independant....but knowing that she still needs my opinion...makes me smile....
11. Ian's face when he won his wrestling match yesterday....He has been really down on himself lately...struggling with some things related to school work, ect. He did awesome...and God knew he needed a little "self esteem" boost...and BLESSED him with a win yesterday....
12. Sunshine....When I see the sun trying to shine behind those gray clouds...beautiful...
13. Christian Friends...I am truly blessed with some of the best friends ever...James and I both...
14. This is a little more "materialistic"...but chap stick...couldn't live without it...
15. Getting ready to start a weight loss class with James...Love that we are doing this together...
16. NYC...loved spending time there with Macey...She sometimes gets left out with all of the sporting events ect we have to attend....so our time there was sacred....Girl time is a MUST
17. I am a "gadget girl"....so love my laptop, my blackberry, Ipod touch...you get the picture....
18. flip flops....with a good pedicure....always makes me smile....
19. my tattoo....every time I see it...I smile...
20. Cade's artwork...He def is a little artist...I love to hear his voice, explaining what he has drawn....and to see the details in his pictures...always amazes me....

that's it for now...because there are other things that need to be done around here...but just needed to do that...the list is much longer...may finish it later...have a blessed day...and enjoy the sunshine!!!!!

A Light at the End of the Tunnel....

This morning, James met with a contractor to "hopefully" get our house finished....

The weather finally seems to be breaking, and the insurance guys were out here the other day-and should be here the first of the week to get our roof fixed~from the tree damage....

We are hoping to get the garage finished also...just simply waiting on the estimate for that part....

The tree guys will be here in the next week or so to cut down 5 trees that we consider "dangerous" to our house...I definitely don't want to spend all this money on a new roof, and finishing my garage, only for a tree to fall on our house again...So those big guys are coming down...and we are SO thankful for that....

So, I say all that to say~God is in control...and it has all been in his timing...and for that I am thankful...Sometimes, I don't have patience to deal with some of life's situations that we face...the "unplanned" events that happen to us...But, as we look back, it is so evident that HIS hand was in it...everything from the tree falling, to the timing of where we were at the time it fell....even All of this snow we have had....there is a reason for it...I just want to say thanks to HIM this morning....for being there when we didn't know what was going to happen or which way to turn.....

The beautiful sunrise this morning was truly a blessing to me...My "light" at the end of a tunnel.....=)

There are Times....

There are times when I simply look at the vast mountain of laundry in my laundry room and think that there is no light at the end of the tunnel...I attempt to sort the clothes, fold them and place them in the correct child's room...Time to go pick the kids up from school, and then from out of nowhere there is another days worth of clothes thrown into the pile...that I had previously sorted...and it simply starts all over....=(

There are times that I think if I have to say,"Pick up your shoes, put away your coats, jackets, backpacks", "do you homework", one more time~that I am going to explode...or start screaming at the top of my lungs~actually I think I have tried that one...without a positive outcome...

There are times that I honestly want to break down and cry because I just put on my "hoodie for the day" and went into the bathroom to get ready-and got blue gel sparkly toothpaste all over my shirt because some little person didn't see it was neccessary to get it up after brushing their teeth...(at least they brushed them, right?)

There are times during our busy weeks when I think all I want to do is come home to my nice cozy home and stay here all evening...but no, we have to be at wrestling practice, dance, soccer, football, basketball, dog training, baseball~you name it...just depends on what season it is...

Dinner at home, together as a family...Is that too much to ask? Oh wait...I forgot my kitchen table is covered with picture frames, and paraphenalia from our family room...because we did just have a tree fall on our house~we have to walk past our mattresses in our living room around our bedroom furniture to get to the kitchen that we are unable to use to it's full capacity because we are waiting to get our roof fixed...and it keeps on snowing or raining or snowing or raining....I think you get the picture....

I walk down the hall, stepping over dirty clothes, broken toys, basketballs, and think "WHY? Can't these little people who live with me pick up after themselves?" I ask them to, sometimes I think they don't listen...sometimes I feel like everything that I do, is for nothing...But then my little guy writes me a note last night...that says something like..."Thank you mommy for loving me, taking me to school, always kissing me good night, and you are very special to me..."

Yes, that made me cry...God has a way of giving us a little ray of sunshine even on the cloudiest of days....and for that I am thankful...

I do think the chaos in our home situation has taken over...our lives, as of late are a little chaotic...I feel like I am lost at the bottom of this endless pit of "unfinishable tasks"....Tasks that can't be finished, unless someone else comes to do the work...roof, sheet rock, trees cut down....you get the picture....I may be in need of a vacation...or a doctor's appointment...or who knows? Both at this point...hee hee..

Now, just hoping for a break in this weather, so the roofers can get out here and get things going...then I can get to straightening out this mess....God is in control...I am just going to give all of this over to him...

Blogging used to seem like sort of therapy for me..so I thought, at this point...Might as well try it...=) Can't hurt? right?

The Tree

So far 2010 has been a little rough for the Allen family...almost broke my ankle-which included a midnight ER visit, James has been dealing with some abdominal pain for the past 5-6 weeks, and now is scheduled for gall bladder removal surgery on February 9th-and to top it all off~a tree fell on our house this past Sunday night...and did quite a bit of damage...there are numerous holes, broken trusses, the eave of the house completely off+James' truck had a considerable amount of damage to it...$3000 to be exact...

Sometimes when all of these things are going on around us, it is so hard to see the silver lining to all of these "clouds" that seem to be surrounding us right now....but I know, and James knows that God is in control, and we are in HIS hands....God allows for us to go through difficult times in our lives ONLY to make us stronger, and to grow closer to him. I have been spending a lot of time watching and reading about all of the devastation that has happened in Haiti-due to the earthquake. and their situation is SO horrible. We do have food to eat, roofs over our heads and heat to stay warm, water to drink. We are blessed beyond measure. Sometimes it is so easy to get that "woe is me" attitude....but I know that God has a plan for us. I can't tell you now WHY these things have happened, all at once, but I know that with FAITH all things are possible. My God is in control, and that is what gives me peace.

Blogging? I think that I have forgotten what that is...I love to journal...and write down my thoughts...I have been doing that...just not here on my blog...I hate to admit that I, too, have just gotten so caught up in the busy-ness of life, that I have just thrown in the towel when it comes to blogging....I would love to keep it up, but it just seems that no matter how much I try, or how good my intentions are...just isn't happening....I'm not making a "resolution" to do better, but I did want to get on here and touch base with the maybe 2 people who are still reading....lol....

2010...wow...That is difficult to write...Where does the time go? It just passes by quicker and quicker with each year....I have a "mental list" of things I want to accomplish this year...I am not going to bore you by listing them out...but I definitely hope to make some changes this year. We, as a family, are hoping to make some changes also. together..Which is why I changed my blog header. Together, What a wonderful place to be. No matter the actual physical location~as long as we are together...love that...and it is so true...One of the blogs that I read suggested that we come up with a "word" for 2010...a word that you hope to live by...throughout 2010. Something to focus on, aim for, work on....The word I have chosen...is...Together. There are many reasons that I am choosing this word...but the one that touches me the most...is I want to grow closer to my God. I want my family to do the same. Together-I know we can do all things. He is in control. And I love that.

Looking forward to a great 2010....=)

Ok , guys, I know...

I am bad....

I haven't blogged in FOREVER!!! I know that when I start getting emails from friends and family wanting to know if we are ok....and telling me that they miss my blog...that I am a slacker....Sorry, but to be honest, Facebook has simply made me get away from blogging...Not an excuse, I know...but the quickness of it, and being able to do it from my blackberry..I just sort of left my blog out in "cyber land"....ha ha ha....I will try to do better....Promise!!!

We are all doing great...Kids are growing up on me, involved in lots of sports, and extracurricular activities....doing well in school....

I have a new job~back in the hospital setting~and loving it...Working an awesome schedule, no nights, no weekends, no holidays!! First time since I have been a nurse that I have had that kind of schedule....

Have to get ready for church this am, but going to post a couple of pics for you...just because...Have a Blessed Sunday....

Where do I start? Ten Years? I can hardly believe it...Seems like it was only yesterday that she was born...My little girl...and now here she is growing up right before my very eyes....She has always been little Miss Independant...doesn't need us to help her...she can do it all by herself...She's full of self confidence, loves acting and modeling...dreams BIG!! Sets her self goals, and goes for it...I am so proud of her....Being the only girl in a house full of boys is no easy task....but she loves it...She plays football with the boys and loves to read to Cade...Her and Ian play ball in the house, and end up fighting like cats and dogs...but they all love each other...=)

She is such a blessing in my life...I don't thank the Lord enough for blessing me with her....

Macey, I hope you have a wonderful birthday...I love you very much...

10 Things: Capturing Me Right Now

I got this off of another blog that I read...but I thought it was such a good idea-so here goes....

1. This time of year is usually a hard time for me...I am a warm weather girl...so the blues tend to come around when fall is here..I am trying a few different things this year to try and make it through this season...Hoping for positive outcomes....=)

2. I can't get motivated...my house is a mess, and I just don't seem to care...I have got to get some weight off...working on that one...slow, but sure...both of these are also related to number 1

3. I have started a new job...and am actually happy with it...I didn't think I could find something better than the job I had at the call center...but getting back into the hospital setting, and having contact with some very special patients...and been nothing but a blessing to me...My God knows what I need...and I am so glad...

4. Planning a beach trip for our family this fall break...First week of October...This is the first time we have ever went this time of year...but we are planning on doing nothing, chilling out, watching movies, playing games, playing and walking on the beach...of course a family photo shoot...fishing, bike riding, just being together....I need it...James needs it...and I know the kids need it...We can't wait....

5. Searching for God's will...not sure what his plan for me is...but I am praying, reading my Bible, and searching...Listening is the hard part...but I am trying to do that too....

6. Joined the choir at my church after coming home from NYC this summer...and it has been nothing but a blessing...Love it...

7. Ian is in middle school...and dealing with some "middle school issues"...Praying for him, and just sitting back and watching him grow into a young man...I am so proud of him, and just am amazed at how he is maturing right before my eyes....

8. Cade is in speech class at school...I had a difficult time with that...but I agreed to put him in the class, and have been surprised by his excitement over going...and can see some progress in his speech already...He is wide open all the time...and tends to "wear me out"....

9. Macey is doing well in school, playing competitive soccer, and taking dance...She loves soccer, and is doing better with each practice....Dance is her favorite extracurricular activity...other than modeling...We are planning our summer next year already...and looking forward to living in NYC again...going to stay longer next year...So proud of her...can't wait to see the Children's Place ads...that should be out soon...

10. We still don't have a roof on our garage...Praying about that one...Not sure how/when we will finish that ongoing project...wanting it to be done...now...

Journaling

I recently told Macey how important it is to journal....

It is something that I have always done....I have stacks of blank books that are filled with words...that I wrote...from years ago....on subjects such as the problems of middle school, job searches, falling in love, travel journals, and pregnancy journals....I love to write...but as of late...haven't seemed to have the time....With all of the running around that we do on a daily basis with the kids....and the many practices that I am sitting at-waiting on someone....Hmmmmm....I think this could be a perfect time =) to jot down some thoughts....Going to work on that .....Will let you know how it goes....=)

When I see Macey sitting with her pen in hand, and her journal...writing down her thoughts about her day, I smile. I think that she is more like me than I realize...She loves to express her self....she loves scrapbooking, reading, art, writing....and yes, she has a little bit of an attitude....Just like her momma ;)She wrote in her journal every single day while in New York. I am amazed at how much she has grown over this past summer....Spending her summer in New York, at age 9...How awesome is that!!! She is one amazing girl...and I am so proud of her....I am going to try to get her to put some of her journal entries on her blog...Amazing words....{coming from a proud momma}

I am in constant prayer for God's will for my life...and the life of my family....My daughter...and my boys...and my husband....Could His will for our lives be elsewhere? Not sure...I have been praying and searching for the answers...Still praying...just wanting to be in God's will....

Our Anniversary Weekend....

James and I went to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the weekend to celebrate our 15 year anniversary...We had a great time....did nothing but enjoy the beach all day for 2 days...and spend some time in the Sea Pines area with my camera =) Here are some pics from our weekend....Love you honey...thanks for a wonderful time!!!!!

Hello...Yes...I am still here....I haven't forgotten about my blog...just havent' had time to write anything....sounds crazy...but true...I can update my status on Facebook in just a minute, and writing a blog post takes some thought....Had a few minutes this morning...so thought I would blog a little....

It is 4:20 am...my alarm was set for 4 am...I have to be at work at 530 am....After working 10+ years of night shift, this has been a HUGE adjustment...but after doing it for 2 weeks...( I had to orient for 2 weeks on a full time schedule-today is my first day of my part time status-thank the Lord....) I don't see how you girls that work full time do it.....I think I am starting to get the hang of it...I even woke up this morning before the alarm went off....=) God is so good...

I am still amazed by seeing his hand in ALL of the decisions that we have made over the past few months concerning Macey and her "dream" of modeling, my job, our finances, ect....We are still much in prayer about a few things that God has laid on my heart....Feel like He is leading me somewhere...just not so sure how or when....Just praying about it for now....and trying to understand all of the things that are "flying" around in this head of mine....=)

The kids have started school, which is going good...Ian in 7th grade, Macey in 5th, and Cade in 1st....Ian is playing school sports...Football practice 5 days a week...Macey is playing competitive soccer, and taking dance....and Cade is playing flag football....Not really a spare moment for us...but I love it....and so do the kids...so here we are...=) This new schedule has been an adjustment for ALL of us...Me, James, and the kids....

James and I have been married 15 years this Thursday...and we are headed to Hilton Head...Woo Hoo!!! So excited....We haven't ever went to the Beach without the kids...so this is going to be lots of fun....Looking forward to it...I haven't been to the beach this year, because of spending our summer in NYC...so I can't wait...(even though I LOVED the city...and would head back there any time!!)

I was just checking my email and recieved an email from AMTC (Actor's, Models and Talent for Christ) that told me to check out their website...so I did...and guess who was on the front page!!! Miss Macey!!! Way to go Sis!!! Be sure to check it out!!! God is SO Good!!! Here is a copy of the letter I wrote...

Carey, Hi!! I am emailing you from New York City…Macey and I have spent the past 6 weeks in the city, and have had a blast!!! She signed with FFT models and has spend her summer going to auditions and go-sees…We have been so blessed by our time that we have shared together in the city…Nothing like some one on one time with your daughter…and we feel like she has done SO well….She has booked three jobs so far-and is on hold for a couple more….She booked with Children’s Place, Scholastic’s Parent Child Magazine, and Toys R Us…She is actually at her shoot for Toys R Us right now…We are already considering coming back in the fall, and definitely next summer!!!
As a family, this was a huge desicion for us…I have 2 other children, and had a part time job…We began this journey one hundred percent in prayer…I have prayed about finding an apartment, travel arrangements, and getting a leave of absence from my job….which ended up not happening…I know you recieve lots of emails from many people, but I just want to share how God has worked in our lives….I have been truly blessed-daily. To know that we have been in God’s will has been so amazing….My manager wouldn’t grant me a leave of absence, after telling me for over 6 months that it would NOT be a problem…I began to wonder, is this God’s way of telling us to stay home? or is it God’s way to tell me to “get out of my comfort zone” and trust Him…Rely on Him…I am assuming you know the answer…I decided to turn in my notice, and trust in Him…it is scary to do something, in faith, not knowing the outcome, or where I was going to work after we return home….but I did it…
Now, after spending six wonderful weeks in NYC, I can see why He wanted us to take this journey…Not just for Macey-and for her to pursue her dreams-which we def have done….but for us to learn to depend and to rely on Him…It is easy to rely on Him, when you have no one else…My husband, and family were back home, and we did this alone…with God on our side…Macey and I spent many nights together in prayer, and Bible Study…We found a wonderful church that we attended every Sunday while we were in the city…and even if she didn’t book a single job…we now know that God wanted this for us…He wants us to share how he can be there for us…no matter the circumstances…
And get this, after quitting my job…my vacation time was cashed out-and given to me-which was EXACTLY enough money to cover us financially while we were in the city…The past couple of days I began to worry about finding a job when I get home….(I am an RN-so the needs are there) Knowing, I shouldn’t worry, I should begin praying-which I did…Yesterday, I recieved an email from a friend, who is a manager in the local hospital-offering me a position-that pays more than the last job I had, and the schedule is very flexible-which would allow for Macey and I to come back to the city next summer!!!!She said to call her when I get home and we will discuss the details…. Our God is SO Good!! =)
But I just wanted to share with you…and let you know that we feel so blessed to have been a part of AMTC…Without you guys, Macey never would have had the opportunities that she has had…You guys are awesome…and to base everything on God and his love for us…Amazing….Thanks so much…Will keep you updated on Macey and her “journey”…God Bless….

Well, who would have thought when I met this crazy guy in Spanish class so many years ago...that I would have celebrated so many birthdays with him....=) and fall crazy head over heels in love with him!!!!!! Wow! 2o years of birthdays!! We celebrated our first birthdays together in 1989....and here we are in 2009, 3 kids later....still celebrating them together....=) and I wouldn't have it any other way....
Honey, I hope you have the best bday ever....even though you had to go to work-The kids want to do something special for you when you get home.... =) Hope you love your new puppy...and enjoy him for many years to come....Thanks for all you do for our family...I love you so much!!! Now and Forever!!!! Happy Birthday!!!!

Fun Fest Balloon Glow

We ususally don't make it to too many Fun Fest Events...but we decided to take Cade to see the balloons...and he loved them...I was wanting to take some photographs too...Nothing like shooting at night...We had a good time, and I think I got a few awesome pics....a few of my fav balloon pics... Cade and Daddy...checking out all the action....Cade talked the whole time...Ian and Macey were gone with the church group...so he took advantage of the one on one time....=) sweet little guy...Me and my little man....In awe....loved the flame shots...I took way too many pics last night....these are just a few...;) won't bore you with all of them...Every time the flame would go-Cade would get so excited...so we "posed" this one...He cracked me up...we did the same thing 3 or 4 times....Running to the street where the balloons were...couldn't wait to see them...Daddy in the background...

I got a job!!! Yippee!! God is so good...I will be working in Endoscopy at Holston Valley...and I am so happy...Much prayer has gone into this, and I truly feel that this is where God wants me to be....thanks to all my friends and family who have been praying for me...Love you guys...

Home is where the Heart is....

Well, long time, no blogging...I am sorry...I know that those of you who check my blog wonder where I have been...=) (all 3 of you) Hee hee...So, here goes...We finished up an amazing summer in the city...Can't believe that our summer in NY has come and gone...We are already making plans for next summer...and can't wait....Where do I begin?

The things that I experienced this summer...I can just hardly put into words...I mean-I blogged about a lot of the details of our trip...the go sees, the auditions, and the shoots...but the "life lessons" that I have learned I will never forget...Learning to exist, in a strange city, where we knew no one, and had no idea even where to begin...People visit NY all the time for vacation...but to go and "make it home" for a time, is surreal...I still hear the sounds of the city when I am just being still...We take silence for granted here in TN...I am amazed to go outside my house, and listen to nothing...something that I wouldn't have realized without this experience in my life....We did miss our home...but I realized that once my family was together-the boys were back with us-that Home is where you make it...For a time, our home was in NY...and I was happy with that....actually LOVED it...=)

The spiritual impact that I had while on this life journey was unexplainable...I have said to one person after another....yes, Macey had an amazing experience, and did lots of work...but if she didn't book the first job-I know that God had us go for a reason....He wants us to have faith in Him, to trust Him, and to put Him first in our lives...from the big things like traveling safety to the small things to making sure we get on the right subway to make it to an audition on time....amazing..and He was there-the entire time...=)

Well, now that we are home...will update you on the "modeling stuff" for Miss Macey...We are planning a little road trip this weekend...Macey has an interview Monday with an agent in Nashville...She is hoping to get represented by them, so she can be working while we are in TN...This is her dream...and we are praying continuously for guidance through all of this...So remember her in your prayers..=)

I go for a job interview tomorrow...so remember me as well...Many of you know that I had to
quit my job to get to take Macey to New York...I really had a difficult time with that entire situation...but I have given it over to my Lord...and do you know what I have recieved? Peace...complete peace...and I just following his will...not sure what that is yet...but just waiting...God is In Control...

I have many more NY pics to post...and will do that as soon as I get time...Trying to let my kids enjoy their summer...We have 3 weeks before school starts...and trying to cram in all the summer fun we can in this time frame...Love you guys...

Blogging from my Blackberry? I haven't really tried to do this before,but thought I would give it a shot...:) I am siiting here outside the studio where Macey is having here second Children's Place shoot...She is inside getting her hair and make-up done-and LOVING it-I might add ;) hee hee...It is so hard for me to believe that our time in the city is almost over-has flown by!!! I love seeing Macey getting the opportunity to pursue her dreams...and we are giving God all the praise!!! He has been our ROCK through this entire journey-and we are so grateful to Him...well-heading in to see what Macey is up to-have a great day!! God Bless!!!

James met his co-worker and his daughter today to go to a Yankees game with the boys...They had a great time...and the boys loved the game...James took the camera and here are some of the pics that he took...The New Stadium....

One More Week....

Boy how does the time fly....I can't believe that we have been here for 5 going on 6 weeks...I know now why everyone wears the I {heart} NY t-shirts-because after being here for so long...it becomes a part of you...I never thought when we arrived that when it came time to go home, I would be saying that I would miss the city....but I am...=) The sounds, the lights, the smells, being able to just simply walk any where you need to go...no need to drive...I probably won't even remember how to drive when I get back to TN...I mean it has been over 6 weeks since I have been behind the wheel...hee hee...(A few pics from our Broadway show...)

It is amazing to sit back and realize that everything we have been through the past few weeks, has been part of God's plan for our lives...I have grown so much...done things I never thought I would do...and learned to depend on God for everything...even the small things...=) We truly have been blessed...We found a church to worship in, that has blessed me with every service...

Today Macey has an audition for a commercial...She is SO excited about this one...so remember her in your prayers today...She has practiced all weekend, and I think she will do great...Like I told her, God is in control of ALL things...and we just need to do our best...and the rest is up to Him....and she smiled at me. =) Loving to see how much she has grown spiritually also...She has journaled every night, and read a devotion and Bible that her good friend Madison gave to her...She has amazed me with her growth also...She asks me to pray for her before every audition, go see, even when we are traveling...she has asked me to pray for our safe travel...I have gotten closer to Miss Macey that I ever have been...and I am blessed by that...God is SO good....

James and I have been talking and we are planning on coming back to the city next summer again...The opportunities for Macey here are amazing...Praying for direction...=)

Worry...After all of the praying I have been doing, and the time in God's word...Why would I worry? I wish that I could say I don't...but I can't help it...Most of you know that I quit my job with the health system I have worked with for many years, because they wouldn't grant me a leave of absence...Knowing that God wanted us to come to NY...In faith, I left my job,...Now, as we are getting ready to head back...I wonder what to do concerning my job....I have a couple of possibilities...but just wanting to be where God wants me...so remember me in your prayers as I face this upcoming desicion....

Going to get off of here...The boys are headed to a Yankees game, and Macey and I are going to the audition...even considered doing something "special" with my girl...Love you all, and looking forward to seeing you all soon...God bless...

Museum of Natural History

Today was a rainy day in the city...so we promised the kids a day at the Museum of Natural History.....the kids really enjoyed the museum...especially the animals...and the dinosaurs...

I took a few pics today in the subway on the way to the museum...and thought they were pretty cool...and would share them with you all....We use the subway as our main way of transportation, other than walking...so wanted to capture it in pictures....
On the subway....wasn't very crowded...sometimes it is so packed there is standing room only....My kids sitting on the subway...being silly... Macey got a call from her agent today...and she has another audition on Monday...She is SO excited!! This one is for a commercial....=) Say a prayer for her....

One more week, and we will be home...hard to believe the time has passed so quickly...I think we could be city girls...at least Macey and I...Hee hee...Going to miss this place...but we are looking forward to coming home...We are already planning on coming back next summer....Continue to pray for us...We love and miss you guys....

Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

Today we headed to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island....We had a great day...beautiful weather, plenty of sunshine...until we headed back to the apartment...when we got soaked by a short little downpour....Visiting the Statue of Liberty was one of the things on my "list" of things I want to do in my life....so one more thing, I can check off...Here are the kids in line for the ferry....

Here is the ferry that we rode to Liberty Island....Here she is...The Statue of Liberty...I took A LOT of pics today...I just posted a few of them....James and the kids in front of the statue....a view from the ferry..... edited version.....Me and the kids...Loved this angle...It was SO windy on the island...all of our hair had the windblown look....lol....A close up of the torch......and the perfectly blue sky.....After spending a couple of hours on Liberty Island, sitting in the grass, and simply enjoying the view..the weather, and the moment....which was surreal to me....we headed over to Ellis Island, and explored the Museum...very interesting....the kids had studied about this in school...so they really liked it...We headed back to the ferry right before a downpour of rain....perfect timing....

We came back to the apartment, and cooked dinner, and played UNO until the kids fell asleep one by one....they were so tired...I am heading there too...God Bless...Have a good night...Love and miss you guys.....much...

Another Job for Miss Macey....

Macey had another job this past Friday...She got to do a back-to-school shoot for Parent Child Magazine(will be in the September magazine)....She LOVED this shoot...Here are a few pics that I took of her getting her hair/make-up and outfit together....She loves all of the attention that she gets during this part of the shoot...Here she is in the outfit they put on her, and after her hair and make-up was done....took a few pics with my cell phone...We were here most of the morning, and this studio was beautiful...so much sunlight shining in the windows...I loved it....

You are the best.....Here is a pic of Macey during her shoot...The little boy she was getting photographed with was 6-the same age as Cade...and he was a couple of inches taller than she was....Hard to believe...They were so cute during these pics...I loved watching them....

Cade's 6th Birthday and More adventures in NYC

It has been a few days since I have actually had time to sit down and blog...so I am trying to do a few catch up posts....Thursday the 25th was Cade's birthday...James and the boys arrived in the city on Wednesday evening, after Macey and I had been in Yonkers, NY all day for a Children's Place shoot...The shoot went really well, and she had a great time doing it...But after our VERY long day, train ride back into Manhattan, we couldn't wait to see the rest of our family...Macey even asked me if we could run back to the apartment....When we went to the shoot in Yonkers, it was straight uphill for a mile...so needless to say, there was no running back home...hee hee...but we walked really fast...and when we got to the apartment...the boys were waiting in the lobby...We were SO happy to see them...Words just can't explain....Our friends, Lisa and Brian, have been staying with us this week...and Lisa had dinner ready for all of us when we got home...Chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and biscuits...the first southern meal we have had in a while...Macey and I anyway =) Yummy...It was a great day...Macey's first job, and our family reunitied...at last....

The next day was Cade's birthday...and Macey wanted to take him to Dylan's Candy Bar, and get him a cupcake for his birthday...He picked smore's and he loved it...that was his "cake"...since he didn't have one...Here he is showing me how old he is...has to use 2 hands now...=-(Chowing down on the cupcake....too cute...Check out those eyes....We walked around the city pretty much all day...took the boys to see a few stores, FAO Schwartz, Toys R Us, walked around Times Square, and then we met the Salyers, for Cade's birthday dinner at a themed restauraunt called Mars 2112...Cade loved it...you had a "spaceship ride" to get to Mars-where you actually had your dinner...There was funky music playing and aliens walking around...He thought it was really cool....a cool way to spend his 6th bday....Ian, Landon, Cade and Macey....Our family....The restauraunt from the balcony...really cool placeMy big birthday boy....where has the time gone?????Our good friends, Brian and Lisa....After dinner we headed over to Rockefeller Center to go to the "top of the Rock"....It was absolutely beautiful....breathtaking....we watched the sunset...then we took some pics of the city lights.....Here we all are...amazed by the view...Me and James in front of the Empire State Building.....Cade looking at the city....Me and Ian....love that guy....some pretty amazing pics....if I do say so myself...Sunset...Our family.....Some night pics.....love these...After we got back to the room...Cade opened his gifts...Landon got him a drawing book, and a pen from the Disney store....Cade loves to draw...so this was the perfect gift for him....Macey got him a Monchichi....he had been wanting one ever since she got hers....He loves it....James and Ian got him some Transformers....Cade went to see the movie last week....and he was wanting some..He loves them...and had a great bday...He told me this was the best bday he has EVER had....and I was worried about it...=) He is such a good boy....Love him so much.... Macey had a second job on Friday with Parent Child Magazine...She had a great time doing that one too....She will be in the September 2009 Back to School issue.....

She goes for a casting tomorrow for Crayola....at 10 am...so continue to remember us in your prayers..God Bless....Love and Miss you all back home....

Just thought I would make a quick post this morning to update those of you who aren't on Facebook...(btw, which if you aren't-you should be!!! =) but Macey got a call yesterday, and she got booked by Children's Place...So she is super excited!!! She is "on hold" for several other opportunites....so we will see....Just remember her in your prayers today...and my boys...they will be traveling to NY-and we CAN'T wait to see them!! Macey's shoot is this afternoon...so pray for her-as she is getting to make one of her dreams begin to come true...=) God is so good....Miss you all back home...and love you-Having a great time in the city...God Bless....

In church this morning....the sermon was awesome!!! I am continuously amazed at how my bible studies, the devotions I am reading, the radio, the tv...and the church sermons are what I need to hear!!! I shouldn't be, I guess...because I know that God has us here in NYC...This is ALL in his plan...The sermon was right on....I mean to sit in a strange church, surrounded by people we don't know, and feel so close to the Lord...words just can't explain what I have been experiencing on this trip....It is such a good feeling to know that I am in HIS will...still not sure what that is...but willing to do whatever he wants for us...God is Good...All the time.....

It's the Weekend....

We had an a good day yesterday...Macey and I got up early and went to the Jonas Brothers concert at the Today show...It was CRAZY...so crowded...we got there a little after 5, and still could only see the back of their heads...from a distance...but, we still had fun...and she was happy to get to hear them...along with the rest of NYC...hee hee...After that she had a go see with Children's Place....She had a blast at this go see...It seemed very promising...but we won't know anything unless they call us...so once again, we are not going to get our hopes up...Most go sees consist of going in and getting your photo taken, filling out some paper work, and that is it...This time they asked me if we could hang out for a little bit, and they called Macey back and put her in 2 different children's place outfits...and took some more pics of her...Macey loved it..she loved the outfits...and loved the attention....She really would LOVE to book this one...so I have been praying...not that we haven't been doing that anyway...

There is nothing like gettting taken out of your comfort zone to learn how we "should be depending on God"...Macey and I both are learning this...He is everything to us right now...talk about life changing....this trip has been!!! I would have never thought that I would quite my job, move to NYC for the summer, for my daughter to pursue her dreams, and do it by myself...CRAZY! God is in control...and we know it...and it feels so right to be in His will...It was SO hard for me to give up my job-knowing how "easy" of a job it was (to be in the nursing profession....) especially with so many people "losing their jobs" and I was supposed to give mine up????? That is how God works...we are not supposed to understand it.....Now, I know that I have to find another job when I get back home...but through prayer and much Bible study while we have been in NY...I realize that God was ready for me to move on...Being "comfortable" sometimes causes us to be "lazy"...spiritually that is.....So, when your life takes a 180 and you are no longer "comfortable"...talk about learning to depend on Him...He sure does know how to bring us closer to Him...I am glad that I chose to follow his will...It sure was hard for me, but I now know why...and the peace that you have from being in his will...is unbelivable....God is so Good....All the time....

After her Children's Place go see, we decided since we had been up since 4, it was lunch time, but we were in the mood for some breakfast food....so we ate lunch at Stage Deli...Breakfast for lunch...yummy...Macey had chocolate chip pancakes, and I had banana...We had a good lunch...Trying to save money, we eat in the room most of the time-so it was really nice to go to a sit down restauraunt and just enjoy...

We then decided to head downtown, and check out the World Trade Center site...We walked around, took some pics, and just was amazed by how much things had changed since we were here in October....This area is just so emotional for me...Thinking about the people that lost their lives, it is so sad...Macey wanted to go in to the Memorial Museum, but we think we will wait and do that when James and the boys get here...Ian loves history, I think he would like the museum...

We headed to Century 21 (good cheap shopping)-a retail store with lots of brand names for cheap...but talk about crowded...good grief...not sure if it worth it or not...but Macey wanted some croc flip flops and they had them for 12 dollars...so we headed in for her to get those...She got them, and we headed back to the room....

We were so tired...decided to spend the afternoon, reading, watching tv, and talking...We had a great day...This city life is gettting easier...We are getting the hang of it...I asked Macey yesterday, if she does well this summer, and they ask her to do this again...would she be interested? and she said "definitely"....(she just doesn't want to miss children's camp at church again) Hee hee...I don't blame her...

Well, our friends, Brian and Lisa are coming today...We are excited about seeing them...and hope they enjoy getting to spend some time in the city...I am sure they will be so busy trying to get it all in-during the week they are here....Gonna go and get things picked up around this tiny apartment of ours...shouldn't take very long...good thing about small spaces....

Build a Bear, Fifth Avenue, and Rockefeller Center

Today the sun was shining and the sky was blue...and Macey and I took advantage of it...We decided to skip the subway today...and just take off walking....We walked over to Fifth Avenue, and took a lot of pictures with Macey's camera....which we forgot to bring the cord to upload them with...ugh....James is going to bring it back when he comes...but I still only have cell phone pics....I promise I am going to take my good camera out when James gets here....so he can carry the camera bag-so much to carry, walk around, and try to find where I am going...I just can't do it alone....=) I know-pretty pathetic...I am doing good to find my way around in the city...which is getting easier every day...I am going to be a pro at it by the time the boys get here :) On our way to Build a Bear Workshop...Macey's desicion today....we passed Saint Patrick's Cathedral...It is an abslolutely beautiful building....it was just as breathtaking on the inside....We walked right past Radio City Music hall....and stopped for a few pics here....We just want to remember everything about this trip....so we may bore you guys with all of the pics...especially once I get the Nikon D200 out in the city...Oooohhh....Can't wait....Rockefeller Center....The flags are beautiful...Macey got some really good shots with her camera....I think she may be taking after her mother-with her "photography eye"....Then we arrived at Macey's destination of choice today...Build-a-Bear Workshop....She has done this before, but it has been quite some time...and she wanted to get something special-since this was the NYC Build a Bear....What other than the I love NY Bear....Too Cute!!! I love it...We took lots of pics of her dressing it, stuffing it, and putting it's heart inside...She named her "Alice" after her favorite Twilight character :)...hee hee....

We walked around and checked out a few gift shops, and window shopped at Versace, Sak's, and a few other places...Lots of fun....

Well, the old weather forecast is NOT looking very good for the next few days....Like I have said before, Rain in the city...YUK!!! And if it is pouring the rain on Friday morning...We will not be attending the Jonas Brothers concert....I just will watch them on tv...Macey agrees...We have plans tomorrow to do laundry, and clean the apartment really good...for our friends that will be here on Saturday...;) Like I have said before...it's not very big, so don't see it taking very long...Well, hope everyone has a good night....Love and miss you all....

Macey and I have some BIG plans for Friday morning....We may be crazy, but we are going to attempt going to see....

Macey LOVES the Jonas Brothers...so we will see how this one goes....I am sure it will be an unbelievable experience....They are going to perform in the Plaza on The Today Show...It does look like it is calling for rain...not sure about that...If it is pouring the rain...we may not attempt this one...we shall see, I guess....

On another note...Yesterday, Macey's agent called us and she is "on hold" for Discover Card...That is one of the Go see's that she went on last week...."On hold" means she needs to be available for specific dates that they gave us-and she is being considered for this job....We are trying not to get our hopes up...but we did think this was good news...=) We know that all of this is in God's hands....and that is where we are putting things...trying not to worry about any of it any longer....=)

One more thing....I notice that the numbers on my site counter just keep going up...by the 100's every day...and yet I still only get one or two comments....Come on Guys!!! We are states away!! Missing our friends and family!! Comment!! We love comments....I mean, do I have to beg??? Hee hee....Have a great day....

Good Morning....to all my friends back home...I am trying to remember to update everyone on our experience here in the city..But as of right now...not much to update....as far as Macey is concerned...the modeling is a little slow right now...She has been on a couple of go see's...but that is pretty much it...Talked with her agent yesterday and they hope that it is simply the "silence before the storm"....We will see....Macey has such a positive attitude about the entire thing...and she is such an awesome daughter...I am just so glad that I am getting this experience to share with her...We will remember it always....no matter the outcome....God has shown us so much...We have learned to depend on him-for everything...because right now-with James and the boys in TN-HE is all we have....We have been praying together, and doing our daily Bible study together....trying to let God be in control of it all....Easier said than done, sometimes....believe me...I am changing the way I think about a lot of things....Will share more about that later....

We miss everyone back home...but we are trying to make the most of the time that we have here....James and the boys will be here next week, and our good friends-The Salyers will be here on Saturday....So we are in for some good times...coming up soon....Can't wait to celebrate Mr. Cade's 6th birthday next week...Can't believe my little guy is going to be six!!!! Where did the time go???? Having a birthday party in NYC-for his 6th birthday!! Woo Hoo!!!

Macey and I are heading to the Croc store this am-yes an entire store...she is excited....and Barnes and Noble-for my little book worm girl....yes...she still is reading like crazy...it is a good time passer for all of the rainy days we have had...She and I are both wanting to learn to knit...so that is something we are considering checking into too....I know-my NC girls-started that desire...Hee hee....

Our Weekend

This weekend has been a rough one for me and Macey....and James too =) He left yesterday to head back to TN....for a week and a half....and then he and the boys will be back with us for two and 1/2 weeks!! We are so excited...and counting down the days for us to all be back together...the way we should be....

We went to a different church this morning....Trinity Baptist Church...and it was awesome...The music was just what I needed and so was the sermon....God works in amazing ways...Macey and I prayed together this morning that we would get to the church without difficulty(which can be overwhelming), and the church would be where God wanted us to go...and it was....The sermon was about being comforted by God in times of trouble....God still speaks to us....every day....We went straight to the church...no wrong turns...no problems at all...Yahoo!!! After church, Macey and I decided to just get some McDonald's and sit outside in the plaza and eat in the beautiful sunshine.....much needed for both of us.....Here is a picture of Macey with her picture perfect smile....cheesing for me....=) Here is a picture of the plaza outside our apartment.....lots of people come to this area to eat, study, read, just "be outside"......After lunch, we changed clothes and headed over to Rockefeller Center for some sight seeing....Here is Macey sitting by the fountain...we sat here for a little bit, and simply watched people...one of my fav past times......

That's about it for our weekend....Hoping and praying that Macey will get some auditions/go-see's this week....It is ALL in God's timing....we both know that...

It is Friday morning in NYC, and when I look out the window-it is still raining...Ugh...I am ready for some sunshine....believe me.....Seasonal Affective Disorder is hard enough when I am at home in TN....put me in a small apartment, in NYC...I think it worsens....=)

For those of you following me on Facebook-you knew that Macey had a go see last night with Discover card...Who knows when or if we will hear anything from them? but she had a blast doing it...and we are just praying for God's will in this area....That is the only way that I can do what we are doing...much prayer....and we want to thank all of you guys for the prayers...We can feel them...and it means a lot to us....God is Good...=) All the time...

We have been eating in the apartment quite a bit to save on money, but last night after the go see-we decided to go and eat at a NY pizza place-Lombardi's....It was really good and the we got dessert at a place called from "Rice to Riches"...which was yummy!!!

Macey and I both dread tomorrow....James is heading back to Tennessee for a week and a half....so we will be missing him terribly....but the boys are SO excited to get to see their daddy....Cade has been counting down the days for him to get home...and Macey and I can't wait to get our hands on Ian and Cade!!! They get to come to NYC and we can't wait for them to get here so we can show them the things we have been doing....=)

Well, going to get off of here, and start our day....Remember James tomorrow as he is traveling....We love and miss you guys....God Bless...

Randomness From The Big Apple=)

I have been posting a lot of things about our trip, pictures, and our "daily outings", ect. Well, this morning, I have a lot of things on my mind....so thought I would do a "Bethanne style" randomness post....=) Here goes....

I am not a fan of rain...in TN...and I am def not a fan of rain in the city....We walk everywhere we go, so trying to dodge other people, plus their umbrellas-ugh! ....I am a short girl too...so the back of my jeans get wet...and that is a huge annoyance to me....Yes, I am in NYC-but I still need the sun to shine...=)

I have talked to my boys every single night since we have gotten here...and I still miss them like crazy...They are my life...

I love spending one on one time with Macey-She is a special girl...and she and I have already seemed to get closer to each other...but she misses her brothers too...She told me yesterday that she couldn't wait until they got here so she could give them both a big hug...Awww...so sweet....

I talked to a friend last night...and it made me smile..I love hearing from you guys back home-We feel like we are in "another world" here-so it is so good to talk to you all...

Having to quit my previous job still bothers me...I have done a lot of Bible reading and praying about this-but it is still hard for me not to be angry about the way the whole thing was handled...I heard that my job is now posted-which bugs me....I will back home by the time they get someone interviewed, hired and trained...and now when I get home, I have to start "job searching" myself...ugh...will try not to be down about this-moving on.....

I am amazed at the faith of my children....We have spoke with Macey's agent a few times while we have been here, but no opportunities yet....which can be frustrating-especially to me and James-I mean, I quit my job-because I felt like I was doing what God wanted for my life...and we get here, and only one casting...but Macey constantly reminds us that God is in control-and as long as we are in HIS will-we need to sit back and wait on HIM(my version of what she said=)...She is one amazing girl...and she is right....

I have been thinking a lot about my photography business....I would love to photograph full time when I get home....wondering if I will be able to do that????

Did I mention that I need some sunshine?

We have had a blast playing UNO....Macey is becoming a pro at the game...We have been playing cards in the evenings-and she is loving it.....

I have a "list" of things that I want to do in my life....some people call it a "bucket list"...I have recently done one of the things on my list...=) it is a little crazy...but I am considering sharing it with you guys...maybe...soon...we shall see.....

Brooklyn Bridge

Today we decided to head downtown to the Brooklyn Bridge....We took the subway to the World Trade Center site, and then walked on over to the Brooklyn Bridge...It was quite a long walk, but we had a great time site seeing....Took LOTS of pictures, and had a blast together...Here is me and Miss Macey getting ready to cross the bridge....There were lots of people walking, biking, and taking pictures. We even saw a wedding photographer taking pics of a couple that had just gotten married.....

We had a great time, and enjoyed all of the site seeing....and time together....

Our first Saturday in the city was great...the weather was absolutely perfect...especially compared to the rainy day we had yesterday...it was yucky....So we decided to take advantage of it-and head to the park...Central Park...We took the subway to the American Museum of Natural History, (we are planning on going to the museum after Ian and Cade get here =)which is directly across from Central Park...then we walked through the park and took in some of the sights....Here is a pic of me and Macey in front of the fountain...I love Central Park...it is so pretty...it doesn't even seem like you are in NYC when you are here...a little "get away"....=) from all of the hustle and bustle of the city.....still lots of people, but lots of trees, and grass...which we take for granted back in Tennessee.....This pic reminded me of the movies...love it....And this is where we spent most of our day....lying on a blanket-sunbathing, reading, listening to my ipod, playing UNO and people watching....I was so glad to get some "sun time"...we all got a little sunburned....=) We hung out in Sheep Meadow for about 3 hours or so, and then we headed back to the apartment to watch a movie.

We are visiting a church in the morning...Calvary Baptist Church-so we have to get up early to be sure we get there on time.....We are looking forward to worshipping....but we definitely miss our Sunnyside church family =)

We miss Ian and Cade so very much!!! Love you guys...I can't wait to see you....Hope you guys enjoy seeing the pics of what we are doing....God Bless.....

First Go See of the Summer

Well, Macey had her first go-see today...and it seemed to go well....hard to say...I guess we will see in a couple of days....if we hear back from them or not....it was casting for Toys R Us...so Miss Macey was super excited about it...She was full of energy, and had a blast...which counts for a lot to me....(Macey standing outside the casting studio)She said that she loved this "stuff" and couldn't wait until the next one....We will be calling the agent back tomorrow...to "check in"...The go-see was in NJ, so we traveled by bus about 20 minutes through the Lincoln tunnel (which was a little scary for someone who has clostrophobic tendencies ;) but we made it without difficulty...and on time..which was a plus for us...getting used to this traffic, and commuting by public transportation...is NOT easy...I will never complain about my Honda Odyssey again....hee hee...We were actually almost 30 minutes early....so I was very happy with the way the morning went...

It is amazing to see the difference in the way people live here vs. home....We take so many things for granted...I know, that after this experience, I will look at a lot of things differently....for sure...

We are having a lot of fun...We haven't done a lot of "touristy" things yet...We are living just a couple of blocks from Times Square...so we did walk over there yesterday and check things out....I have been taking all of these pics with my phone...will get out the good camera in a few days....We are just trying to get settled, and figure things out...which we seem to be doing ok with....Tomorrow we plan on doing some "fun" things...Macey is wanting to go to FAO Schwartz, and she also wants to go to Macy's....

I am looking forward to a day in Central Park to get caught up with my sun tan that I am slowly losing..I know that I have a problem...with tanning, but I feel so "sun deprived"...already...I will just have to do some serious catching up when I get home..=)

Well, that is all I have for now...not much to blog about yet...Getting ready to watch a movie with James and Mace...We miss everyone back home, and just want to remind you guys to keep us in your prayers...We love you all...Good night...

We are finally settled into our apartment, and I had time this morning to hook my computer up and do some blogging...I am up before everyone else....have a pot of coffee brewing, and getting ready to start the day....with the Today Show on (of course)....Just wanted to let everyone know we are doing well, and are slowly getting the hang of this "city living"....One thing I know for sure is that my house will seem like a MANSION when we get back home....and I know that I won't complain about NOT having a roof again!! Hee hee....Our apartment is nice (will post pics later) but tiny!! Another thing we shouldn't take for granted is Wal-mart!!!! You can go to Wal-mart and get anything you need, anytime!! Not here....little grocery stores, and produce carts ect...but no Wal-mart..

Wanted to update you on Macey too...Not much to say yet...but we met with her agent yesterday and they gave her , her first "Go See" (an 'audition' for models) and she goes on Wednesday morning....Will be sure to let you know how that goes....She is super excited about it...and hoping it all goes fabulous!!! It is with Toys R Us...so just keep praying...=)

Well, James is up, and needs to computer so I am getting off of here for now...Will update the ole' blog better now that we are settled in....Keep praying for us....Love and miss you guys!!!

The journey for us is finally beginning!!! We left this morning for Morganton,NC(where we are now) for Ian's baseball tournament...We spent all day in the sun,watching baseball and enjoying time as a family together with friends...Tonite the kids had a blast swimming at the hotel pool-with the entire team...Bright and early in the am-James,Macey and I are off to NYC! While the boys are staying here with some good friends to finish the tournament and then back to stay with Mamaw and Papaw for a couple of weeks....Remember us in your prayers as we travel...Will update the blog tomorrow...Good night-Should arrive in NYC around 430 pm...

Winding up the School Year

We have been very busy the past few weeks...with Awards day's, Recitals, Ballgames, and school parties....I have taken lots of pictures, but just haven't had time to upload them....So, this is a "random picture" post...mostly for the grandparents.....but here we go....

The first few pics are from a "surprise awards day" for Cade...He didn't know that the teacher had sent a note home to the parents of the kindergardner's who recieved 20 points or more in the Reading Counts program at school...There were about 8 or so students in Cade's class that recieved this award, and Cade was one of them...We were so proud of him....You can tell by the smile on his face-He was so happy to recieve this award....Mrs. Krantz presenting Cade with his medal for recieving 20 Reading Counts points....Mrs. Krantz getting a hug...Mommy and her little reader....=)Cade posing with Daddy

Macey took dance for the first time this year....and she absolutely loved it!!! So the recital was the big "finale" of the dance year...and Macey danced in three different dances-Hip Hop, Ballet, and the Father Daughter dance....She looked beautiful....Here are a few of my fav pics from the weekend....Macey smiling as she is getting ready for rehearsal....Her ballet routine was to the song, "I feel pretty"...She did a fantastic job...Ian with his little sister...I just love this photo...the ball player with the ballerina....so sweet....Then there was the Father Daughter dance...this was a Hip hop performance...and Macey just loved her daddy dancing with her...They had a blast!!! James really has some pretty impressive moves too...=) He always has been a pretty good dancer....He just showed us all how good he really is....Way to go Honey!!!Breaking it down!!!Doing "the Snake"Shimmy, Shimmy, Shimmy....Too cute...They are awesome!!! "I like to Move it, move it...."Then of course, there are the many weekends we have spent on the ball field...Here is Ian playing second base...He has done a great job this season, and really enjoyed this baseball season on the travel team.....Field day...Macey with her daddy...Me and Macey at field day....Macey and her good friends...Madison, Ellie, and Kelsey....Macey and Madison....This week, we are getting things together, packing for our trip to NYC...Macey and I are SO excited...just can't wait to see what God has in store for us while we are gone....Last Thursday was my last night at work, so it has been nice just spending time with the family, and getting ready to go on our trip....God is Good...All the time...

I have been slacking on blogging lately, just due to being so busy...but I want to keep everyone updated on our adventures while in NYC...so be sure to check out the blog....and leave comments when you do!!! Excuses?

I know that God's hand is in my life right now...Many of you know that I have turned in my notice for my current job. It is a l-o-n-g story...but to sum it up....Macey and I are going to NYC at the end of this month, and my current place of employment was unable to give me a leave of absence. (that is a story in and of itself-another time, another place)

I have three days left where I work now...Sad? In a way...I have really good friends here...I enjoy my job....but God has another plan for me. He had burdened me over the past few months concerning this choice that I knew I needed to make...but took a while to obey Him....Boy, how AWESOME is it to see his hand working-after we "do as we were told"??? I turned in my resignation 2 weeks ago, and since then, have gotten our apartment in NYC, cheaper than expected, and a possibility of 2 or more job opportunities...WOW!! And to think, I was AFRAID to follow his will, because of the unknown...the uncertainty...I now know, that I need to just trust HIM completely...He is HERE!! Right beside me...All the time...We do not know what the road ahead has in store...none of us do...but one thing I have learned through all of this, is that with God-I can do anything....

When I got to work tonight, I had the following devotion placed in my box, by one of my sweet christian co-workers.....that has truly blessed me...Blessed me to the point of a blog post!! So I can share it with my blogging buddies....=)

Here it is....

"Some of us have know exactly how God was leading us either to become a missionary or to leave our present vocation for another. Yet we have argued, resisting the changes that obedience would bring. Or we have hung onto the sin that so easily entangles us.

A hundred excuses may be given for ignoring the claims of Christ. We can think of endless reasons why we might say no to God's persistent call on our lives. But behind the facade is a fundamental unwillingness to be disturbed, a determintaion that our foundations will not be shaken, a stubborn disposition that does not want God to rule our lives.

Often God brings us to a place where we have to leave the familiar for the unfamiliar; we have to be pushed out of our comfort zones and take a risk. God loves to lead his people places where they have never been before......

Father, forgive me for thinking that I know what is best for me. I trust You that You know all the days of my life already, and that You truly know what is best for me and what will bring glory to Yourself. I purpose to listen to Your call and act on it by faith. Amen.

That pretty much sums it up for me.

I attended the Extraordinary Women's conference this weekend with Macey...and we had an awesome weekend learning about how great our God is...and I think she and I both grew closer to Him this weekend....Matthew West is a contemporary Christian singer that performed on Saturday...and his song, "The Motions"....truly blessed me...It talks about how we need to stop just "going through the motions" of our lives...and truly live 100% for God...stop saying "We'll do it tomorrow", or "Let me think about it"....Just jump in feet first....and take off running!! For Him....

Here is the song...Be sure to listen to the words....Matthew West wrote this song when he was getting ready to have surgery on his vocal chords...not knowing what the outcome of his singing career would be....his story truly blessed me...and I hope this song will bless you guys.....

What to Do....

I have been debating back and forth about whether or not to blog about this desicion that James and I are facing...but writing is a release for me...and today, I feel down about it...so here goes...maybe at the end of all my rambling...I will feel a little better....I do realize that in the light of the world's economy, the Swine flu outbreak, and all of the other horrible things going on in our world today, my little problem may seem trivial...But I do know, that no matter how small it is-God is listening....and He will be there for me...and help me to do the right thing...as long as I hand this ALL over to Him...which is what I have been trying to do...Sometimes, it is hard to completely give it over to Him...but I am working on it...

Well, here goes...As many of you know, Macey and I will be going to NYC this summer for 6 weeks...We are super excited about this opportunity...and this desicion has not been made lightly....A year ago in February, Macey auditioned for AMTC(Actors, Models, and Talent for Christ) and did really well....She ended up going to Orlando, Florida for a week last summer and recieved 3 callbacks...2 from NYC, and 1 from LA....So, to make a long story short...We visited NYC last October and Macey interviewed with 2 different agents, and they want her to come live in the city this summer for 6 weeks...

So...this is where the story gets a little more complicated.....I have a job...part time....night shift...that I DO like...It works for me and the family....I am a registered nurse in a call center....I have been speaking with my manager back and forth for a few months now via email(because I am a night shift girl) concerning our upcoming trip to NY....I asked to change my position status...I am part time now, and wanted to change to PRN (which simply means "as needed"-no set hours, and you get to pick when you can or can't work-perfect for my situation) First, I was told there was no PRN positions yet, but should be soon (last November), then I was advised maybe I should apply for a leave of absence...then yet again...no, why don't you drop to PRN status? ....and now...where I am now..."We can't grant your leave of absence NOR can we let you drop to PRN..." Seriously? Four weeks before I am supposed to go? I have been seriously bummed out about this one....I mean, James and I have prayed and prayed concerning Macey's trip...and one door after another, after another have been opened....I believe that God has this in Macey's life for a reason...and I trust Him in this....But now we are facing this setback....If I choose to go with her, (which is my plan) I will have to quit my job....Hmmm....I really have been burdened by this one...Many of my close friends are praying for us as we try to decide what to do....I think I know the answer, but sometimes going through that door of uncertainty is so scary...but I know all He wants is for to trust in Him....

This morning, I went walking at the park, and listened to some praise music on my ipod....and then I went down to the lake to pray...something that I have not done before....I told you, I am serious about getting God's guidance on this life of mine....=) and this was the song that was playing as I began to pray..... Take It All, by Third Day....

one of my favorite songs....but the words were from Him...my Heavenly Father...

I am trying to do the right thing...just pray for me as we try to follow God's will for our lives....He is good....All the time....

Miss California Stands up for her God

I just watched a clip on the Today Show concerning the Miss America pageant...and was just truly blessed by it....Miss California was asked a question by one of the judges concerning her opinion on same sex marriages....She is a Christian, and here is her answer....

"Carrie Prejean told FOXNews.com that she had "no regrets" and was happy with the answer she gave when a Miss USA judge, the gossip blogger Perez Hilton, asked about her stance on same-sex marriage.
"I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman," she said on the live broadcast. "No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

Fox news asked her this am, how she felt about the whole thing...Here is her answer, "Honestly, happy. This happened for a reason. By having to answer that question in front of a national audience, God was testing my character and faith. I'm glad I stayed true to myself."

I was talking to Macey about this...and she and I both agree that she won way more than a pageant...She didn't compromise her beliefs...and she shared God's love with the entire country.......Way to go Carrie!!! Standing up for our God, no matter the cost!!

Our Weekend

We had a fun weekend...lots of running...soccer games, baseball games, and yard work...but I did manage to get a few pics this weekend....James and Ian went to Christianburg, VA on Saturday by themselves, and Macey, Cade and I stayed back to go to soccer...plus I did some prom pictures for a friend....I was "on my own" on Saturday...so needless to say...I got to the soccer fields on time...but without my camera...so I just sat back and enjoyed the good ole' sun...After soccer, the kids and I had a picnic lunch, and came home and worked/played out in the yard ALL day...I got the yard mowed, and all of the weeds out of our flower bed...Here is one of my pics, I am very proud of...My butterfly...It was flying around our lilac bush...and I had to tell Cade to leave it alone, because I was trying to photograph it...and I finally Got it!!! Yay me! Then, thought I would photograph another of God's beautiful creations...still using the lilac bush...;) Thanks Miss Mace....Love the pigtails....

Then on Sunday, the kids and I went with James and Ian to the second day of the baseball tournament....Here are a few pics I took of Ian playing for the Kingport Tigers...They played AWESOME!! The last game was rainy, so the camera went up...but it was the game that had the most awesome plays...Oh well, will get some more action shots next time....Had a great weekend, and I am sad it is back to reality tomorrow...Swinging the bat...believe he fowled on this one... Playing second...I also did a photo session downtown for a friend of mine for Prom Night...I am still working on those...Will have those posted in the next day or so...For now, exhausted....Good night....

I took Macey and Cade to see the new Hannah Montana movie tonight...I know, on a school night!! I am just c-r-a-z-y!!! =) But we had a great time...and who would have thought that it would have been such a meaningful movie to me...

God can speak to us in so many different ways...I have been praying about a lot of things in my life..and Macey's with our upcoming trip to NY....And have realized that God has a plan for us...Just trying to give it ALL over to Him...This song isn't a "christian song"...but the words to it...touched my heart...Even though we are struggling with things in life....decisions, dreams, stuggles, negative things all around us....if we make "The Climb" with Him by our side....it will be so much easier....because life IS an uphill battle.....If you have the time, listen to the words of this song...

I have been reading some blogs, ect. concerning Christian views on the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer....and yes...I have an opinion on this subject....For those of you who haven't read the books...go ahead and hit the "x" in the upper right corner of this blog...because this little bit of rambling I am getting ready to type...won't mean anything to you...=) Just a warning...I know that there are MANY opinions out there on these books along with many other fiction books that have been released in the past....and I get tired of hearing about it....so, here it is...my opinion....

I began reading Twilight at the suggestion of a friend...and I didn't think anything more about it...other than it being a vampire book....Yes, I am a Christian. I love my Lord. I know what the Bible says about some of the topics that are brought up in these books...and I still read them. All four of them....And after reading them...I am still a Christian. I STILL love my Lord...and I can say that I enjoyed the books...They are fiction...plain and simple...If you google, "Christian views on the Twilight Series"...you wouldn't believe the things that come up....Crazy...I may be opening a can of worms here...but it IS my blog...and that is where I can voice my opinion....right? right.

I think back to the days when I was a girl...and we watched a show on tv called the "Muntsers"...Vampires, werewolfs....entertainment...fiction..not reality...I don't think that me watching Herman Munster impacted my life...in a negative way...I know, Edward Cullen is an attractive young man...there is a difference...BUT he is a fictional character...which means...he isn't real...I feel like so many people in our society try to take things and make them something they are not....There are many fiction books, stories, movies, that we could "tear apart" and talk about the negative things in them...(I could name them-but I don't really want to go there...)

One thing that really stuck out in one of the blogs that I read was "...there really isn't such a thing as romantic love"...."Edward does everything for Bella-and young girls in our society today don't need to thing that this is the way love is...." Hmmm...Some women may not have that type of relationship with their spouse...but I do...James and I met in high school...and fell in love...even though everyone told us we were too young to fall in love...give it some time...We knew...James is such a gentleman...then...and now...He does so many things for me...from bring me home flowers...to helping with the laundry...and I, in turn, love to do things for him...We are doing a Sunday School study on marriage...and I do believe in "romantic love"....I DO believe in love that can last forever....We have been through a lot in our 15 years of marriage...but with God in the center...that is how we have made it this far....I love him...and he loves me...and after reading the Twilight books...there has been many times, I have told him he is my "Edward"...and to me...that is a good thing...(He is not a vampire though...ha ha ha)

Anyway, just felt the need to get that off my chest....Fiction is purely that...fiction...I have let Macey read the books...and she has loved them...We have talked about them...and she understands many of the things I have talked about here...We all have choices that we make in life...and I don't think we should condemn others for their "book choices"....=)

On Saturday, we headed off to Knoxville to take the kids to the zoo...Believe it or not...Cade has never been...So, he had a blast...and loved all of the animals...His favorite was the lions, monkeys, and rhinos....Here is a pic of me and the kids in front of the elephants.....The kids comparing James' height to a giraffe.....Cade is the bravest of all my kids...Ian and Macey didn't want to have any part of this camel...and Cade just petted him, and wanted to feed him too...James bought him some food, and Cade stuck his hands right up there and fed him...No fear...of anything...Sometimes that is a scary thing....=)This was HILARIOUS...Cade was sitting here eating pringles...and this chimp walked right over to where Cade was sitting....and just sat there...watching him...Cade felt sorry for him, and thought he wanted something to eat...so he offered him a pringle...Everyone was cracking up...People were asking if they could take a pic of Cade...it was so funny...Here are a few pics of him...with his "new friend"... Twilight Midnight DVD Release Party

Friday night....Macey and I went to the Twilight Midnight DVD Release Party with our friends-Christy and Emmy...We were at the mall with all of the other Twilight fans....to get one of the first copies of the DVD...We had a blast...and played a few "crazy" trivia games, worked a Twilight crossword puzzle, then FINALLY recieved our copy of the movie..and then we were off to the house...to watch it....We loved the movie...but if you are a reading person...the books were 1000 times better...Macey and I both agreed on this one...But we will definitely be in the theatre when New Moon comes out...=) Here are a couple of pics...of Macey's first "late night out"....=) She ended up not going to sleep until close to 4....Long night...but worth it... The kids and I have been enjoying this beautfiful weather this week...We have had hikes, picnics, playground fun...and today James and I hung up my big star that I got for Christmas....It looks perfect!! How differently might our lives be if we women didn't have to fear the harsh criticisms of other women? Might we be willing to step out a little bolder for Jesus? Might we be willing to be a little more vulnerable? Might we live our lives a little less guarded?Oh sweet sisters, women judging other women must absolutely break God's heart. The crazy thing is when we judge others, we elevate ourselves past the ability to recognize our own propensity to sin in the very area we are criticizing. Show me a woman who is leveling a judgment against another person, and I will show you a woman who is wrapped in sin herself.If it's not the very same sin she's criticizing, it will be a sin just as dangerous - pride.It is a subtle shift that Satan invites us into. Voicing criticisms against others will coat the eyes of our soul with smut so thick, we become blinded to our own sin. Pride and self-righteousness will detour us from God's best path and lead us on a treacherous journey of denial. We'll deny our own sinfulness. We'll deny our own need for grace.Those who can't see their own desperate need for grace, refuse to freely give grace to others.Now, if you're like me, you may be tempted to start making a mental list of those who you have felt judged by and you started praying a few sentences back: "Please let so and so read today's devotion. Oh I hope she sees herself in this and gets a whammy of conviction."But, let's stop making that mental list and receive this message personally. Even if we aren't naturally critical people, this is an area we can all grow in.I recently read a wonderful quote outlining a beautiful plan when we feel tempted to judge someone else. Francis Frangipane in his book Holiness, Truth, and the Presence of God says, "Anyone can pass judgment - but can they lay down their lives in love, intercession and faith for the one judged? Can they target an area of need and rather than criticizing, fast and pray, asking God to supply the very virtue they feel lacking? And then persevere in that love - motivated prayer until that fallen area blooms in godliness? Such is the life Christ commands we follow!" (pg.11)I know just posting this devotion will not suddenly make the world tip on it's axis and shake all of us women into breaking the cycle of criticisms and judgment. However, maybe, it will be a start. If it causes even one of us to fall in front of Jesus in repentance and allow Him to wipe the smut of pride and self-righteousness from our spiritual eyes- it will be a great start. Now, let me be that one.

Dear Lord, may I first fall in repentance into Your loving arms of grace. Thank You for the harsh ways I have been judged lately for it opened my eyes to this stinging way we women can be. Forgive me for not extending grace at times to others. I am a woman who desperately needs it - so, I should be a woman who freely offers it. When I am tempted to be critical of someone else, help me hold my thoughts and my tongue. Instead of voicing those things, help me bring them to You in honest and heartfelt prayers for that person. May I be one who is so motivated by love, that I will persevere in my prayers for that person until I see You working in glorious ways. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Another Beautiful Spring Day....

The Seasonal Affective Disorder is slowly fading away as the temperature goes up...and I am glad...I have felt so much better for the past few days...it is unbelievable what a little sunshine does for the system...or mine anyway...=) I don't have time for a big post...will try to update soon...but just wanted to let everyone know that I have updated my photography site...I just did a session of our family...and wanted to share...They turned out so good...I can't wait to get them printed...=) Be sure to check them out...

I also have some good news...we are closing on our refinance today!!! Yeah! We have refinanced our house, and now our next step is to finish this c-r-a-z-y garage!!! Hopefully soon...that is the plan...I will definitely be having a " Garage Party" when this thing gets a roof over it...I may even have it in the garage!! Hee hee...Well, gotta run...Things to do, places to see, and sunshine to get out in...=) God Bless...

I am here...I have had emails, phone calls, and ran into a few of you who wondered if I was ever going to blog again....=) I have neglected the blog...Life has just gotten in the way. We have had the stomach virus, strep throat, and the flu....Basketball, baseball, and soccer begins this weekend. Play auditions, church, work, and just running that comes with a family of five. I am finally getting a little post together....

Last night was Upwards Awards night....Cade was so excited because this was his first year to get to play basketball-and he did awesome. He loved the sport, and enjoyed the time with his buddies....Here are some pictures from last night....This is Cade, Jett, and Aiden....Me and Mr. Cade...Gotta love that little guy...Just so glad he is healthy...for now =)Duffer, Cade's coach, and Mr. Cade....We love you Duffer!! Thanks for putting so much time into coaching the team. You are an amazing guy! and the kids love you...Macey and a few of her team mates....They were busy signing each other's jerseys, but I got them to look at me for a picture...Macey and her coach, Christy. Macey loved having her for a coach, she was so good with the girls and taught them so much. Thank you Christy for giving your time with the girls! Macey and Me...Love you Sissy...you had a great season...and I am so proud of you!Ian had an amazing season too...I don't have any pictures of him, because he had to miss the Awards night because he had baseball practice....He is playing on a travel team, and they are practicing quite a bit already. This is the first time we have let him be a part of a travel team-due to time constraints. So we will see how it goes....It is an amazing team-with a Christian coach. Can't wait until the first game...coming up this weekend!!! Yeah! Will def post some pictures of that...Baseball is one of my fav sports...just because it means SPRING is here!!! =)

Pray without Ceasing...

That was the title of our Sunday School lesson this past Sunday.....and it really made me think...HOW do we pray without ceasing? What if we prayed like Christ? How much our lives could be changed if we did this....Jesus prayed that we would be united....ONE. He didn't pray that there would be a simple "majority" of christians on board for the revolution of grace he was about to fuel with his own blood....He prayed for his followers to be ONE. Wow...

When we pray, things begin to change, not only in the things we pray for, but also in the one voicing the prayers. Jesus placed more importance on unity among His disciples than He did on their physical protection. He makes unity seem kind of important, don't you think?

The amazing truth of this concept is that Jesus is praying for you. He's intereceding on our behalf before the Father. We have someone who is on our side. He's been were we are, He's seen the inside of the coffin. He's felt the searing heat of betrayal. He's the ultimate champion of life's everythingness...And he's in it with us...We find our identity in Christ when He rinses our lives with truth....(From Bible Studies for Life-Winter 2008-2009)

Amazing words...My goal for my life is to begin praying more often. I want to "Pray without Ceasing..." in my everyday life....and see God's hand begin to move in our lives. A relationship with Him...that is what it is all about...

Not sure about the details, but he has been having trouble breathing...they are doing some testing to rule out heart problems...ect...Remember him and James' mom in your prayers...Her health is not very good either...Thanks so much....

It has been a while since I have been on the ole' blog...The busy-ness of life has just seemed to get the best of me...We have all had a bit of sickness around the Allen house..Just seems that we can't get well....I was up all night last night with Cade, and after our visit to the doctor today-we found out that Cade is positive for the flu....So, I am going to be stuck here in the house for the next few days, I guess...so maybe I will blog a little bit...Bless his little heart, he feels horrible, and has been in the bed for most of the afternoon....Remember him in your prayers today.

This post is one that I have been wanting to write since Saturday, but just haven't had the time to sit down and write it out...

Upward basketball is a program that our church has. I am sure many of you have heard of it, but if you haven't, it is a church basketball league that emphasizes that each child is a winner, and teaches children about the importance of character and integrity, instead of the "winning is all that matters" attitude....This past Saturday Ian's game was such a blessing to me. His team played an awesome game. They were ahead by 8-10 points or so...and there was a little boy on Ian's team that hadn't scored yet. He is a little slower than the other boys, and not nearly as coordinated. Ian and his team passed the ball to him over and over, to try and help him get a goal. I was so proud of them. Ian especially. Obviously because he is mine. But Ian is very competitive and he loves to win, so to see him give up winning to make sure this little boy got to experience the feeling of scoring a goal, was such a blessing to me....Over and over, Ian and his team kept passing the ball to this little boy, until finally he scored a goal....I was so proud of them...They ended up losing the game according to the scoreboard....but in the big picture...they didn't lose at all...They won, Big Time.....We meet after the game for awards, ect. and Ian's coach was overwhelmed. He stood in front of those boys in tears. I was so glad to be a part of this moment. The awards that are given out are stars, one for best effort, best offense, best defense, ect. But the most important star that is given out is the white star for most Christlike.....In silence, with tears flowing down his face, Ian's coach handed out white stars to each team member. They all deserved it, because they ALL showed God's love today.

Valentine Making....

Last night was a crafty one around the Allen house....I have two kids who still needed valentines....(nothing like waiting until the last minute) I like to "make" them...I hate to get the store bought kind...Yes, I am one of those moms...I can't help it...I like to be different...So, Macey's favorite candy in the entire world is a Hershey bar...so we decided to share her fav candy with her class....What better idea than Hershey bar wrapper valentines? I had seen this on many different web sites, ect. where you can order them, or pay to print them...but with all of the scrapbooking supplies Macey and I have together....Surely-we can do this one ourselves....Well, of course, Cade wanted to jump on and make the same type for his class...but of course in a more "boy-ish" version.....So, earlier in the week, I had purchased 42 Hershey bars from the Dollar General....I bet the check out lady, thought I sure was hungry! You have no idea how difficult it is to be around so much chocolate when you are on the South Beach diet...I mean...seriously!!! But NO cheating happened...and I am proud to say I have lost a total of 10 pounds so far!! Coming off a little slowly, but hopefully that means it will stay off!!! Ok. that was a little tangent...Sorry...Anyway, Last night was our "project night..." putting it all together...James ended up working over, plus we had church...so that added to our stuff to do....(Luckily we have teachers that give no homework on Wednesdays-a blessing for sure!) But we did it...and they look absolutely adorable!!! Macey actually did ALL of hers by herself....and Cade started out wanting to do the same, but after 2 or 3...He was over it...I did make him label all of them...because it IS for his friends....=) So, here (as you guessed) are a few pics of them....Then this morning, Cade woke up with the stomach virus. My worst fear!!! He has been pretty sick this morning, but is doing much better now....Thank goodness...Now, I just hope that the rest of us don't get it....Off to a staff meeting at work...James is home to watch the little guy....Have a good day...

The Best Callback of All

We have been preparing and praying about our upcoming trip to New York City....There are so many things to do, lists to make, clothes to get, and planning to do...especially if you are OCD like me...=) I have been searching for an apartment, trying to get a few things together to do before we leave, ect. I know it is still a few months away, but I want this transition to be a smooth one...as smooth as possible anyway....

I read a devotion tonight concerning "Callbacks" and it really touched my heart...Macey just loves theater and modeling and over the course of this journey of hers...we have attended many auditions...Auditions require preparation, performance and then sitting and waiting on the "callback" to see if you got the part, ect.

During AMTC this summer-she competed the entire week all to gain "callbacks" with some of the well know agents that attended the convention....So, ultimately the goal is to get callbacks....We were blessed with three. God has had his hand in this journey from the very beginning...(for those of you who have read my blog for sometime-you know that) but I wanted to share this devotion that I read tonight with my fellow bloggy friends...

"Hopeful contestants waited in eager anticipation to see on which lists their name may be written. Jesus came to deliver God’s prisoners of hope, and He will not disappoint you. Yet, the world might.

I read this tonight...and it really spoke to me...I mean, yes, we are so excited about the possibilities that are in front of Macey...and I know that God is in control of this situation...and I am placing it in his hands...but to KNOW that we are on God's "callback list"....that is amazing...and out of all the callbacks that we get in this journey...Knowing that we are on God's...is the ultimate...=)

Finally, A Snow Day!

Believe it or not, the city schools had a snow day today...When I saw it on the news, I was so excited...and thought the kids would be too...I went in and told Ian first, because his alarm was going off....I told him to just go back to bed because school was canceled...He didn't believe me, and then when he did-he told me he would have rather went to school (today he was having a field trip) Oh well, so much for the excitement of a snow day...Then he was up by 7, because he is so used to getting up early...no sleeping in for him...I didn't wake Macey or Cade...but Cade wandered into the den, about 20 minutes after Ian...Macey did sleep until 8:30...so at least one of my kids enjoyed sleeping in...=) The kids could NOT wait to get outside and play...I made them wait a little bit, because it was unbelievalby cold outside!!!! When they finally got outside-they were wide open!!! No snowmen for them...all they could do was go flying down the hill...over and over and over and over and over...you get the picture.....Here are some of my favorite pics that I took today....Our house....so pretty with snow all over the roof...even if it was just a couple of inches..... Cade wore gloves that were not waterproof...so it was just a few minutes and his hands were freezing..and he was ready for ME to go back in and find his waterproof ones... Macey posing for me....

Cracks me up...He and Macey had a blast riding together....Ian was trying to make a serious turn...and Mace was just along for the ride...Cade wasn't too far behind them...They were cracking me up.....Cade on his own...Doesn't go near as fast as he does with someone else..... Miss Oreo...enjoyed playing in the snow with the kids....She is such a good dog...They loved playing with her today... Cade and Ian were sledding and wiped out...and Cade's boot went flying...We were all laughing our heads off over this one...Had to get a photo of it...They are crazy! After playing, the kids were starving...so we came in and they ate sandwiches...We are having my South Beach Version of Taco Soup tonight for dinner...It is in the crockpot right now as we speak...and it sure smells yummy....I even made some South Beach peanut butter cookies....No salmonella peanut butter was used in the making of these cookies...=) They are yummy! We have had a good day...Playing outside, cooking, watching movies, putting up laundry(yes-we got that done prior to all the playing!) and now we are waiting on James to get home from work...He has to work over tonight....hopefully it won't be too long...

It is back to work tonight for me..Yuck..After a day like today, I remember how very much I would love to stay home ALL the time with my kids....Maybe one day...Going to get off of here, and watch Space Chimps...with these little guys...Have a great rest of the week...God Bless.

Kid's Are SO Funny!

Cade has had us all rolling in our seats laughing this week with a couple of things that he has said....Had to share...(this one is mostly for the family-so bear with me)

Cade and Macey come skipping to the car in the pick up line....Everyone gets in, and the talking begins....I sometimes can't even hear myself think due to all of the chit chat going on in the van...This was a particular conversation that went on this week...

"Macey?" Cade said to his sis...

"What Cade..."She answered...

"I got a library book today, and this is it(showing it to her-something with a dragon on the front). Now my teacher taught us about books today...so is this book fictionary or unfictionary?" Cade asked Macey proud of his knowledge....

Macey handled the question very well...She does have a very good bit of tact..."Do you mean fiction or non-fiction?"

Cade answered very frustrated,"That is WHAT I SAID!"

We were all cracking up...He is too much sometimes...

Another one on Cade...Once again, he is sharing his knowledge that he has learned in school with us...

"Mommy, I know what the center of your eyeball is called....Do you?" He asked me...

"No, Cade, I don't know...What is it?" I asked him...wanting him to share with me what he has learned today.....

"A Pimple!!! It gets bigger in the dark, and smaller in the light!!" He said proudly...

No tactfulness here...We all cracked up...I love that little guys...We did correct him, and let him know that he meant to say, a pupil....and he didn't argue with us this time...

Gotta love the things they come up with sometime....Have a great weekend....

Being a night shift worker, means lack of sleep, constant tiredness, naps in the afternoon, feeling blah all the time...But I do what I do for a reason. I used to work 12 hour days, and I felt as if I missed so much of my kids lives. You leave for work before they get up, and get home when it is bedtime-so I made the choice to change to nights about 7 years ago. I didn't realize it has been that long, until just now. Wow. But, now the kids don't even realize that I am gone. I am gone when they are sleeping, and they have their daddy to take care of them. Works great. When I complain about my job, and working "at night, when normal people are sleeping", I just think about the ballgames that I haven't had to miss, the plays, the school programs, the class parties, picking the kids up if they are sick from school....Yes, I may be sleep deprived sometimes, but the blessing of getting to BE with my kids is worth it. Here are a few thoughts about my kiddo's-a little sentimental today...must be this weather....

Ian is so mature for his age. I see it. Everyone may not, because yes, he still is 11. He worries about me and James. He wants us to be proud of him. He cares what we think about his friends and girlfriends (I know, Ian-couldn't help it) He has a big group of friends, and he loves to hang out with them. They all get along better than any group of boys I have ever seen... He loves sports, and dreams of playing football professionally. He has struggled so hard with school over the past few years, and has finally "got it" this year. He loves middle school, and is doing better than he ever has in school. He is a young man. I love him so much.

Macey, my only girl...A little fiesty, loves to read, loves to talk, and has a little bit of drama going on in just about everything she does....=) She is a beautiful girl, who loves to read. I mean, more than anyone I know. She has a book in her hands at all times. Wal-mart, ball games, bed, car, everywhere. She even made the comment yesterday that she thinks she has read all of the books in the school library. That wouldn't surprise me. Macey is very independant. She doesn't have a lot of friends, a few good ones, but that is it. She dreams big. Always has. The reason for our 6 week trip to New York City coming up this summer. She has signed 2 modeling contracts, and we are Super excited about this trip. I am so proud of her. Growing up before my eyes. Love you Macey.

Cade is growing up so very fast. We were sitting in the den last night while he was working on his writing assignment. I love that. Writing has always been an outlet for me. I have a bookshelf full of journals that I filled up in middle and high school, of all of my thoughts and feelings....Reading through those sure is comical now...Anyway, just looking at his hand holding a pencil amazed me. Seems like only a few weeks ago, that he was a tiny little baby, and we all were wanting to hold him, and he carried his little "night, night" with him. Now, he is writing a story. Capitalization. Punctuation. Characters. Dialogue. He had a little check off list, and all of these things needed to be in his "story". I was impressed. He ceases to amaze me every day. I love this time in my life, where my kids need me, love us, and come to us for everything. I know that this won't last forever, but for now-I want to be content-with the blessings God has given me.

And even though sometimes my job doesn't seem like a blessing...I think God knows what we need as a family. He knows that I need to be here for my children. I am glad that God doesn't always give us what "we" want. Because I believe that he wants what is best for us. So, if you hear me complaining about my job again....which I am sure I will do.....remind me of the Blessing from God that I have been given...my job...so I can spend time with the best blessings ever-My Family!

A Few Random Thoughts

I have quite a few things running around in my mind...so thought I would do a little "random things" post....So, here goes....

I love Family Fun magazine...and as I was reading it yesterday, and looking at all of the cute valentine ideas for my kiddos....realized...all of a sudden, that Ian won't be needing valentine's for school this year....Middle school kids don't "do" valentines....you know...So, I have three kids, but only get to be creative, and come up with 2 sets of valentines....kind of sad...what all of this really means to me, is Ian is growing up...fast....Another thing about Ian, he has really been wanting to become more independant lately...one of the things he has wanted to learn to do, is to cook...(Sounds great to me!!) So, since James and I have been on the South Beach Diet for 2 weeks this Sunday-There have been a lot of eggs consumed in the Allen household...My kids are loving all of this cooking that is going on...and Ian decided he wanted to learn to make his own scrambled eggs.....Sooooooo, James gave him an "egg-cracking, pan-spraying, cooking lesson", and he did a great job! Ian has cooked himself some eggs a couple of times already....He thinks he is the next Emeril!!! Who knows? You can be anything you want to be...Right? All you have to do is put your mind to it....That is what we try to teach our kids....(Not that Ian wants to be a chef, but you get the point...right?)

South Beach Diet....Yes...James and I have been doing Phase 1 of the diet for almost 2 weeks...For those of you who aren't familiar-Phase 1 exists of meat, veggies, low-fat cheese, eggs, peanuts, and sugar free jello(there are more options-but that pretty much sums it up)....We both felt pretty rough the first 3 days or so...but I am feeling much better now, and am pretty happy with my weight loss so far....7 pounds as of today...and James has lost 8, I think...So, we will continue on this journey...We are both looking forward to Phase 2, which begins on Monday, because we can begin adding in some carbs!!! Yippee!!! Cereal will have never tasted so good....

I am so happy to see the sunshine, and that the temperature is above 30!! I mean it would have been good to be above 15!!! I have realized, not that I didn't already know this-but this past week has helped me remember that I am NOT a cold weather girl...at all...I simply shut down...I don't want to go outside, don't want to leave the house, don't want to get out from under the fleece snowman blanket.....Here is a pic of it...to show that it really does exist...for those of you who have heard me mention it numerous times lately...Hee hee...So, to say that I am ready for spring-is an understatement...

I used to be a huge fan of the soap opera "Days of Our Lives"(hence the name of my blog; ), back in my college days...So, since I have been spending a lot more time in the house, under the fleece snowman blanket-I have caught a few episodes of it again...Hmmm..I am not quite so sure why I was such a fan of the show...It is on my tv right now, and they are currently performing CPR on a "dying" man, who by the way has died numerous times over the past few year, and it is just cracking me up...I just would hope that they wouldn't be the ones performing CPR on me, if a psycho-psychiatrist jabbed a lethal dose of muscle relaxer into my back, so my heart stopped beating...ok...you get the point....moving on....

Work is another sore subject for me...I feel so blah about my job...I know that I should be just thankful to have a job with our economy the way it is right now...and believe me, I am...but I would love to have some "normalcy" in our lives...I am so over working night shifts...but it works for our family...always feeling like a zombie, being tired...ect...I know that I can't "do anything" about this right now...but I SO want to...I have been praying about this for quite some time...so I know God has a plan for my life...I just have to wait on his timing...not mine...which is so much easier said than done...=)

Well, on that note...I guess this has been enough rambling....Gotta run out and do a few errands...It is back to work tonight for me...=( Have a good day...

Ice, Night Shifts, and More Ice

I haven't had the time to post about my most exciting experience coming home from work Sunday morning.....While at work on Saturday night, I was well aware of the weather situation. We had seen one motor vehicle accident after another come into the hospital, and continued to get updates on the number of incidents that were happening due to the weather....which was mostly ice...My co-worker even decided to walk out into the parking lot to check it out, and was stranded only a few feet away....I have to say that situation was quite funny. Every time she tried to move, her feet slid...she finally got back into the office...scooting her way along...Needless to say, that made me even more worried about getting back home...I considered staying at work for a few hours, until the roads had time to clear, but I also was finishing my second night shift in a row, with one more to go, and really wanted to get home....

So, after talking with James, and my dad, I had a plan on how to attempt my drive home...I got into my warm van, because I had let it warm up before I got in, and slowly put it in reverse....This was the beginning of one of the most stressful times I have ever had behind the wheel of a car....I made it through the parking lot okay, but when I pulled out onto the main road, cars were going 5mph, and every where I looked, cars were off the road-in ditches, upside down, completely turned around....Ugh...What was I doing? The girl who hates to drive in the rain, was going to attempt this dangerous treck home....Knowing that there was no possible way that if I got to the road to go to my house, would I be able to make it up the hill...I knew that there would be some walking go on...and of all nights, I chose to wear my Crocs...=) Not good planning for sure!

So, I attempted to get on the road that leads me home...No...A policeman was sitting there blocking it...So, I had to try another route....Turned the van around very carefully, and backtracked and attempted another way...Seemed to be going well...Driving very slowly...I had made quite a bit of progress, when I came upon a part of the road, known in our area, as Dead-Man's Curve....Ummmm, yes, I was a little nervous about this part of my journey...No worries...Another police car...yes...He too was blocking the road, and wasn't allowing anyone to pass through...All I wanted was to get home...and now, I am not sure how to even do that...unlesss, I park the ole' van somewhere, and take off hoofing it, in my crocs....hee hee....I called my "Navigator" a.k.a. James, and he told me to try one more way....

So, for the second time, turned the van around (not like this was the easiest thing in the world to do either!!) and started towards my third destination....This road was passable....Horrible!!, but passable.....Covered in ice...and cars going about 4-5 mph....all the while, noticing all of the cars that were in the ditch, ect around me...I prayed the entire time but, I pressed on, and after what seemed like an eternity, made it to the part of my drive home, that I had dreaded the most.....There are two ways to get to my house...one is a road that has a VERY steep hill...with no guard rails, and no where to "go" if sliding happened...so I was attempting to take the second way in...which meant I had to travel through a curvy, but flat road-that the people around here call "The Ridge"....

As I got closer to this part of the drive, it had gotten dark, due to the lack of street lights around me, and the farther this way I went...the worse the roads looked....I was driving very slowly, and then I noticed the car in front of me seemed to pulling off of the road to the left(across the oncoming lane of traffic-not that there was any)...Hmm...Wonder why they are doing that...Is there a wreck up ahead? Well, it didn't take me long to figure that out...because I started sliding across the road also...this was the worst feeling EVER..No control...I was only going about 3 mph, so I just simply slid all the way across the road, and into the grass-with about 10-11 other cars....Looks like I wasn't the only one in this predicament....A policeman was at the scene, and he walked up to my van, and told me to just pull it up in the grass a little more, and simply sit and wait until the salt trucks came by, and the roads were a little clearer, before attempting to go any further....Great! I am stuck on the side of the road, until who knows when...I was sleepy, tired, and had the beginning of a horrible headache....I called James, and let him know I was ok, but had slid off the road, along with a crowd of people...and would let him know when I tried to pull out....

Turned the car off, and simply sat there, listening to my praise music in the car....watching one car after another attempt to get through, and end up in the same situation that we were all in....5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes passed, when I heard something...I looked in my rear view mirror and it was the salt truck...Thank the LORD!!! Once the salt truck passed, a few cars started to pull out of our little parking area on the side of the road...Watching them slide, and spin as the pulled out, I decided to wait a few more minutes before attempting it....

The car in front of me, was sort of in my way, so I walked up to her window, and talked to her a minute, and she ended up getting out, and making sure that I got out safely, by watching me get backed out onto the road...God amazes me by putting such nice people on the side of the road just for me!!!

Anyway, I made it the rest of the way...still going very slowly, still seeing cars off the road everywhere I looked....I got to the hill that goes up to my street...I thought to myself, if I could simply pull into the bottom of it, and park the van, I would walk from that point....So, I slowly turned in, and once again...the van slid completely sideways...crossways the road...Lovely...This close to home, and can't get the car parked....UGH! I had it in park, with the emergency break on and I was still sliding....I finally got the rear wheel into some grass, got a little traction, and was able to get it out of the road...Never was I so glad to put my feet onto the ground...

I called James and told him what I was doing, and where I was, and he came to meet me, to help me get my stuff in....Our entire road was a solid sheet of ice...He "skated" all the way to me...Crazy! When he opened the door of my house, I was so glad to be home....We shut the door, and locked out the cold-I hugged James, and told him thanks for praying for me, and talking me through it all...He is so good that way....

Never has it felt so good to crawl into bed, in my flannel sheets!!! A 7 minute drive home from work, turned into a two hour drive.....God's hand was on my car all the way home...So many people weren't as blessed as I was...I am so thankful, that I made it home safely, without a scratch on my car, or me...Thank you Lord....Sorry for the long post...but I had to put in all the details....=) I would have posted a pic...but obviously photographing the moments were not at the top of my agenda..Have a Blessed Week....

Uno, and a Miracle

Papaw got Cade a new game yesterday....Uno....and he loved it...He played against me, James, Macey and Ian....and actually won quite a few times! He loved playing...Of course, I had to take a few pics of the little guy.....Check out that thinking face.....Hmmmm....Laughing because he put down a draw 2 card on James...He loves to win...especially if he is playing against James.....Cracking me up....Macey working on her homework while the boys are playing.....such a good girl....=)I was watching the Today Show this morning, and the many amazing testimony's of the survivors of the flight that landed in the Hudson River.....I can't even imagine what a terrifying experience that had to be....But God had his hand on that plane. One of the ladies spoke of how that as the plane was going downward, that you could hear prayers going upward all over the plane. She said she was a born again Christian, and she knew that God took care of them all....Our God still works miracles every day....Right before our eyes...and there are still those who choose not to believe....Unbelievable....He is real. He is here. He is watching over us. He is taking care of us. This story is just another example to me of God's amazing love for us.....=)

I couldn't seem to come up with a "catchy" title for this post....so I just decided to title it...the way I feel....I know that I had posted a couple of times about the cute little house that James and I had made an offer on....Well, we found out today that it isn't going to happen....I had SO many ideas...and to own my own studio, is a dream to me...But, we had signed the contract pending financing....and to keep from writing one very boring post....It just wasn't meant to happen....It is very dissapointing. But I am sure that God has something better in our future....Just going to keep praying....

Let's go watch some American Idol...Might cheer me up...=)

We are headed to the Beach!!!

South Beach that is!! James and I started the South Beach Diet yesterday....We have now completed Day 2...and are doing good...I just thought I would blog about this....sort of as an accountability type of thing...No, I am not going to post my weight ect...I do plan on posting my weight loss....though...hopefully there will be plenty of that!!! =)

My motivation is our New York Trip....which is the month of June....For those of you who don't know, Macey signed a modeling contract, and we are going to be living in NYC this summer for 6 weeks....So exciting...but I want to be in shape when we get there...Lots of walking, and lots of auditions for Miss Macey...want to look and feel my best....This is going to be a much easier road, because James is doing it with me....So, I will try to update about my weight loss once a week...just for me...=)

Getting off of here...I am so excited that my favorite TV show is back on tonight!!! I am a BIG American Idol Junkie!!! and tonight is the Season Premiere....So, let's get off of the computer and spend some time with Simon, Paula and Randy!!!!!

Upward Basketball, Week One

Today was our first Saturday of the next eight weeks....of basketball ALL day long!!! With three kids playing...we felt like we were at the church the entire day...Cade played at 9am, Ian at 140, and Macey at 250....So, we didn't have much time to do anything else....This was Cade's first year to play Upward...So, I took a few more pics of him than the other two...He looked too cute in his uniform....Here is a shot of his team...The Tigers....James and I are helping our friend, Duffer coach....James and Cade....too cute... It isn't baseball, Cade...I think he forgot what sport he was playing...and decided to slide....=)Cade blocking and his good buddies, Jett and Blake with the ball....Cade taking the ball down the court....Me and my little guy....Duffer giving Cade his stars...( In Upward, you recieve a star for your award each week) Cade recieved most Christlike and Best Effort....Way to go Cade...Ian's game was next...Here is a few action pics of him...Yes, he is the one with the "big hair"...He normally has a buzz cut...high and tight to be exact, and wanted to let it grow out...I am ready for a trip to the barber shop....Not a fan of the haircut...at all....anyway...here is a few pics from his game...Stealing the ball....He shoots....He scores....=)And last but not least, Miss Macey's game...Macey played good today...She scored a goal, and really hustled on the court....

An awesome pass.....She is one of the shortest ones on the court...but she knows how to hold her own....Then we came home, and Macey's friend Alexis is spending the night with her...and we had our friends, the Hite's over for some pizza and Domino's....(our favorite game). Cade and Emmy playing on the gymnastics mat....They laughed and giggled the entire time they were playing...I love Miss Emmy....she is such a sweetheart!!! Love you Girl!!!I took this one of me and Christy myself...not too bad...I am letting my hair grow out, and thought it looked long in this pic...I have had short hair forever...so this is a big challenge for me....I will probably only grow it out simply to cut it....but we will see....

We had a good, but busy day....Love spending time with friends, and love watching my kids play sports...Well, I am tired, and am going to hit the sack....Hope everyone has a blessed Sunday tomorrow....Good Night....

I Can See Clearly Now

Well, it is not normal for me to post 2 times in one day...but I worked nights last night...and when I got up a little while ago-I opened the curtains...and what to my wondering eyes did appear???? Not Santa in his sleigh with 8 tiny reindeer....(yes, I know-corny) But some beautiful SUNSHINE!!!! Seriously-It has rained here in east Tennessee for more days than I can count....dreary, rainy, just blah!!! Not sure if any or all of you have heard of S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder)-but I have it. Bad. Seriously. No joke. So, this weather has put me into hibernation...I put on my fleece pj's, get under the fleece snowman blanket, and just simply hibernate on the couch....So, when I woke up today...and looked outside...I was so happy...This song started running through my head...

I can see clearly now,

the rain is gone,

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

Yes...I am silly...but happy today...Blue sky, sunshine...I don't care if it is only 32 outside...It's Gonna be a Bright, Bright, Sunshiney Day!!!! =)

Re-Decorating

Macey got a new bed for her birthday....and just now got to put it up....Her birthday is in September....We told her when she got her room clean, that it would happen...Well, here it is the first week of January...we just now got through the cleaning process....;) We are planning on moving her to our room, once we get our new roof, and finish our additon...But we decided, that since she cleaned her room so well, we would put the bed up, and her new bedding that she got for Christmas...on the bed....She had a ladybug room...with lots of hard work that I put into it....There is a green stripe in the new bedding....so we decided to remove all of the ladybugs...and everything will "match" until the big move... Here are some pics from our long day of work....Cleaning out her room...and throwing lots of things away....She takes after me...Throw away anything that you don't need or use....

Posing for me...once the bed is up...love the headboard...Thanks Mamaw and Papaw!!!Here is a color version...Love the colors in the new bedding....We are going to paint the wall aqua in her new room...with some chair rail....gonna be so pretty....The bed has a canopy too...Mamaw is going to buy some fabric for it...Will def take a picture once we get that part finished...Going to be a Girly room for sure....Kind of sad when I look in here now...Doesn't look like a babies room anymore....Miss Mace is growing up.......Well, let's say a prayer for some sunshine!!! Back To Life

Back to Reality...Well, it is so hard for me to believe that 2008 is behind us-and we are sitting here facing a new year-2009. Christmas break is over, and the kids head back to school in the morning...We have all enjoyed our time off together...Watching movies, playing games, spending time with friends, and just being together....=) I have been thinking a lot about the New Year and the "resolutions" that we all tend to make. This year, I am not going to make any "formal resolutions....But there are some things that I would like to do..Such as.... I do want to grow closer to my Lord. I want to remember to put Him first in all that I do. I want to pray more. I want to have a better attitude. I want to teach my children to do the same. I want to be a better mommy. I want to be a better wife. I want to be a devoted friend. I want to spend more time in God's word. I want to follow God's will for my life. Whatever that may be. I have been doing some soul-searching. I know that He has something in store for me, I just haven't quite figured it out yet. Still praying. Still Listening. My wish for this new year is to spend it loving my family. spending time with our special friends. Growing closer to my Lord. Daily. =)

I think it is sad that the little guys head back to school tomorrow, but all good things must come to an end...We can just count down the days to the next "break"...=) I guess....I personally am ready for summer...Once Christmas is over, I am done. Ready for some sunshine, blue skies, and warm weather....I guess I am just dreaming. considering it is only Jan. 5. Well, hope everyone has a blessed week...Remember today is the first Monday of 2009-make it a good one! God Bless.

Addictions? Hmmm...I have a few things that I do repeatedly...I guess those qualify as addictions...Here goes....

1. Coffee...yes...a night shift girl loves her coffee...especially with my fav-coconut creamer!!

2. Blogging? Yes...it is an addiction...not been doing as well through the holidays...but now that they are over....I will be back full force!

3. I will have to agree with Nicole, on this one...my new Blackberry...I love it...Would have to be the coolest thing I have!!! 4. Photography-I love my camera! I love taking pictures! of anyone! My family, my friends, my customers!!! I am so excited about my business opportunity!! James and I have bought a house to put my studio in...We will be closing on it January 31st...God is so Good!!!

5. Facebook....yes...I have a problem...I feel like I need to update my status...when I am grocery shopping : ) Hee hee....
